So, every single time i go into a doc besides my own(which is just as stupid in other areas like pain control) and i do a "clean catch" i always have WBC and Pus in my urine and they say i have UTI.. which then i say no i don't if you would do a cath it would be clean (screw god for inventing caths bc they feel like razors!!!!!) But they insist i should just take an antiboitic (usually cipro (i lied and said i was allergic to flagyl bc it makes me vomit) or levaquin. Which both cause horrible side affects (dirrehea which makes my ic flare worse and severe legs aches) i never take the stupid anitboitics bc b4 i was dx i was 5 diff antiboitics over 2 months straight b4 i started refusing them and i figured out caths were always clean .... does anybody else have that problem with the clean catch always showing infection but caths clean?

Do you make sure you let yourself urinate quite a bit before catching it? You probably do, but just making sure...

Do you use the towelettes and pee a little first before urinating into the cup?

Before I give a sample I always say that they need to a culture with sensitivity on me. It is very common for IC to cause many things that are common with infection and are often seen as signs of infection.

As far as not being able to get a truly clean clean catch...if you are doing everything right the WBC and puss shouldn't mean UTI only bateria should.

If your strugglng this much getting a clean catch....perhaps there is something going on vaginally....regardless shouldn't matter if they do a culture. :grouphug:

your doing the right thing and you should continue to stand up for yourself...."I won't take an antibiotic without proof of bacteria not WBC or puss...and I want the antibiotic that will treat the bacteria" you should be the boss of your health.
