I had my cysto with hydro today. The bladder looked "great" according to my uro. However... he still did the over distension AND prescribed me Elmiron with 5 refills and never even asked for a follow up appointment. :cussing: From what I read on here Elmiron isn't exactly something to take for recreational use. The SDS nurse suggested I call my GP and see where to go now to diagnose my pelvic pain. She also thought it was weird that he perscribed the Elmiron. His reasoning being "sometimes it helps pelvic pain". :loco: I thought the sole purpose of Elmiron was to coat the IC bladder? If my bladder looks so amazing why do I need it coated? After calling my GP I got a call back from the nurse saying they don't understand why I'm asking what's next if the Uro gave me Elmiron. I told her that he said my bladder looked fine but perscribed it anyway because it "sometimes helps pelvic pain". She said since he perscribed the meds I need to follow up with him.

So basically the long and short is that him perscribing this medicine and not giving me a diagnosis is killing my chances of finding out why I'm really in all this pain.

See below for my past post describing my pain:

Any words of advice or encouragement would really be appreciated. :help: This really was my fear going in this morning. I just want to know why this is happening to me... if not IC... what?!?! :bonk:

If you're not feeling comfortable with what you are being told, my suggestion would be to see another uro for a second opinion.

I totally agree with Donna....get a second, third or even fourth opinion, until you are comfortable and satisfied with the feedback. Don't just settle:tsk:, trust me it took me to see four doctors before I got my IC diagnosis, but I was determined to out the culprit of my pevlic pain!:)

Totally agree with the others... See another doctor but ask your current one for a copy of the report - maybe he has summarized the status of your bladder more precisely on paper compared to what he told you...

I always found my written reports extremely helpful in addition to the conversational part ...

Good luck!
