This is kind of embarassing, not sure if its even related to IC... especially since I haven't even gotten my diagnosis yet (cysto w/ hydro on Tuesday). Wondering if it has anything to do with IC, or anything that correlates with IC, if not maybe I'll WrongDiagnosis.com it. Just thought I'd start here and see if anyone can tell me anything. Here's the deal...

Sitting on the couch, watching t.v, feeling completely normal. All of a sudden I get this sharp pain like someone stabbed me about 4 or 5 times with a needle in an undisclosed location (could have been my clitoris, urethra, or the vulva right above both of the aforementioned parts). The nanosecond the pain goes away I get the tingly feeling in my urethra warning me I have to pee. I voided and have felt normal since the pain went away. It was just a few seconds... but thought it was weird. Anyone ever had anything like this?

I haven't, but it's good you are undergoing testing.

I've had pelvic pains like that for as long as I can remember. Rare but sudden, stabbing pelvic pains. They bring me up short with a gasp, but are gone so immediately and totally that I can't pinpoint where they were, though mine are farther back than yours.

I never went to the doctor just for that, but I've mentioned it to a couple of gynos who were not concerned. I think they suggested gas or nerve twinges. Since they are so rare and not progressive, I just forget about them.

Thank you for the replies. :)

Mrs. Peel, I'm thinking nerves too... because about 10 minutes after posting this I got about 2 of the same pains in the actual vagina. Just thought it was weird that it happened immediately preceding an "urge".

I think I'm just nervous and trying to find a reason why I can't have the cysto the day after tomorrow. "Oops, UTI, can't go!"

I would look into Vulvodynia or PFD....

I used to get that exact pain when I was younger and it didn't last very long.

Then one day when I got older into all turned into a nightmare that wouldn't end.

I agree with VCNJ84, I would do some research on Vulvodynia..Esp if you are having any burning issues..

Sounds like it could be a spams of your pelvic floor. Check out pelvic floor tension myalgia (aka pelvic floor dysfunction). Sadly....I have those types of pains -- feels like someone is stabbing me with with an ice pick in odd places. Not fun.
