Hi!
Finally did my first hypogastric plexus block last week and had some success. Need two more in the following weeks to give it a fair chance (so they say). The relief I've had is encouraging but not enough to be "med free". My question is how many of you have had a block and found a med to stay on that worked in conjunction with the block? My doc seems to think I'll be able to get by on less meds since they become more effective with the blocks. Hope that makes sense. I'd love to know what meds work better for those of you who've had a block. I've never tried B&O or neurontin. Any suggestions? Thanks for your support.

My pain therapy doctor wants to give me a Epidural and or Facet Injections, is that like a block that you are talking about?
I take Neurontin 300mg 3 x a day also and have a implanted pain pump. The Doc says my pain is not only from I C. But never told me what he thinks it is coming from. I guess this Epidural is going to be done under xray. Has anyone had this done?? Please respond and let me know what I am in for.
Take Care, :grouphug:

I've had multiple epidurals, hypogastric, ilioguinal nerve blocks, nerve pulsing, PT, TP injections, etc. You name it, I've had it. I even had the two nerves above surgically cut. I got very little, if any relief. Neuronton & Lyrica did not help even at high doses.

The only thing that helped me (without a lot of self-administered therapy) was a simple, marcaine only, no anesthetic PN block in my ob's office last week. She found a bad spot after injecting all down the pudendal nerve at something called the Frankenhauser's complex/plexus. I haven't taken meds (except for one Valium suppository) for a few days and it's like heaven. That's the first time in over 5 years that's happened.

It blows my mind how the other treatments did nothing while the simplest procedure made me (right now anyway) completely pain free. Maybe the block needed to be closer to the source? Now I'm just waiting to see how long it lasts. It feels very permanent (knock on wood).

Hope you find what works for you,
Carol
