I have had trouble taking the carbonation out of soda (I only drink root beer or cream soda and on rare occasions). When I stirred in a little salt or sugar, it just didn't taste right. But, here's what I discovered: if I open the can or bottle, cover it tightly with foil, and leave it in the fridge for 24 hours, there is just enough carbonation in it to still taste good.

I seem to be able to drink 6-8 ounces followed by a glass of water with no problems. : )

I know that I can drink rootbeer (A&W only for some reason).
I also knew about the salt. Didn't know about the other 2 though; the sugar and putting foil on can). will have to try one or other sometimes.

my mom always had us stir the bubbles out. If you stir it for a few minutes the carbonation goes away. Hope this helps....
