I haven't posted here much since I was initially diagnosed, but that's because I rarely have problems. My IC is fairly mild compared with many here on the forums, but I've been on 20mg elavil for about 2-3 years and it's really amazing how much it's helped. I still use prelief if I want to eat something I know will mess me up like strawberries or coffee/tea and that usually helps, but the elavil really let me live again. I used to have a miserable time making the 6 hour trip to where my folks live. I'd have to stop constantly. Now I can safely say I only need to stop once or twice most of the time. I thought I couldn't even work in retail in the beginning, since I couldn't run a cash register, but again, elavil really helped. I still pee more than most people but not nearly as frequently as before.
Anyway, I give it a thumbs up. It does make me hungry and I gained about 10lbs since I started it, but I haven't gained much more since then. That's more of a self-control hurdle, and admittedly a difficult one! Other than that, it makes me sleepy, but I take it at night so it's a bonus IMO!
