[B]Does anyone get frequent UTIs? Once a month? Twice a month? I have the AZO UTI kits at home just in case. Sometimes its just a flare, sometimes its an actual UTI. This time it is. I tried calling my primary care doctors office yesterday. They do have answering service on weekends, but always a on call doctor. I called up the answering service 3 times yesterday, and NO ONE bothered to call me back. I am in so much pain! I was sweating all night too. I also have rosacea so my face is all flushed and red. I'm on Enablex but I don't think it's working at all. I'm on the lowest dosage of Enablex and have been on it for a month now. I have had IC since 22. It has totally ruined my life. I can't enjoy traveling or going to see movies. So I wait till the movie comes out on HBO to watch it. :( Has anyone had issues with on call doctors NOT calling back? It's as if the on call doctor sees my phone number and name and ignores me. I never had issues before with a on call doctor. Usually they call me back within an hour. But all day yesterday, I was in tears, no one called me. So I have to call the office today and tell them that whoever was on call yesterday didn't bother to call me back at all. That's bad patient care.

I definitely would let my doctor know if I didn't get a call back. I hope you get some medical attention today --- an infection can be very painful. Is there an urgent care facility in your city? If so, I suggest going there if you ever have another infection.
Sending warm healing hugs,

There is an walk in clinic within few min from where I live. I constantly go there like once a month when I can't see my primary care doc. I'm sure they are getting sick and tired of seeing me all the time. Once a month seeing the doctor I think is annoying to the medical staff and the doctor. They may think I'm insane. :(

If you develop an infection on a weekend nobody will have a problem with your going even more often than once a month.

Well for a while now I have been seeing my primary care doc once or twice a month. I'm sure he's getting annoyed seeing me all the time. :( Is getting frequent UTIs common amongst us who has IC? He doesn't want to prescribe medication over the phone because he wants to culture it to make sure what type of bacteria it is. It could be a flare or something else. :(
I saw 2 urologists and 5 primary car docs at a local US military hospital. When I was no longer on Tricare, I had to change doctors. I did see a urologist for a long time, and he was listed on the local magazine as one of the top urologists in the DC area. However I no longer work near his office. I'm working in DC now. I then switched to a urologist in DC, who was also listed in the local magazine as top urologist but I didn't like the staff there plus I my appt was never on time. I had to wait sometimes an hour over my appt to see my doctor. The patients in the waiting room would be standing! My primary care doc knows about IC. My aunt who is an RN knows about my condition too.
I do see my primary care doc today after work. I am going to cry when I see him and ask him if this is NORMAL for people with IC to see docs all the time like once a month. I'm sure he gets annoyed seeing my face every single month. :( If I was still dating Morgan, then it would be easier in a way since he is a lab technican.

I was told that people with IC do tend to get more infections than the normal person. Maybe you should ask your doctor to give you a prevenative antibiotic to take to prevent infections if you are getting them so often.

I hear that Macrobid is a common medication for recurrent UTIs. It's low dose too. Usually when I get a UTI the primary care doc prescribes the medication for 10 days, twice a day. Maybe I need to be on it a month. I read though that Macrobid can cause lung problems. I'm just so depressed and upset that an on call doctor wouldn't respond to my calls. Bad patient care in my opinion.
