So I haven't been on the board before, but I've read many of the posts here and appreciate the sharing and learn something everytime I log on.

I'm going in on Tues for my second hydro. My IC has changed, it has gotten much worse even though I have cut out everything that causes my flares pretty much.

I'm on Lyrica and Ultram for pain (combo) - Elmiron (of course) and hydroxizine (sp?). But the pain is so bad I can't really walk today. It is this kind of bring you to your knees pain.

I have Hunner's ulcers so I'm hoping to get some relief from the hydro and I think my doc is going to zap the ulcers while he is in there.

The pain and passing all the blood after the procedure is kind of lame but I had a lot of relief from my last hydro.

If you've had to get a 2nd hydro when your pain changed? If so, did you experience relief or did it make stuff worse

Hey, thanks so much. I'm so glad I found this b/c I can't really talk about it to my fam so much. I think my partner is getting frustrated with it. I mean, we are so young (mid-thirties) and my IC really takes a toll on our life and our family. So it is nice to come here to be able to release some of the feelings I'm having.

I hope the procedure goes well and you'll again find it helps with symptoms.

Sending warm healing thoughts,
Donna

To answer your question IcInak, I had ny second HYDRO a few months ago. I had been in a bad flare for a very long time. I relized it was not a normal flare for me since it lasted many weeks. My OBGYN did the first one which gave me great relief so I went to him and asked if he would do another using no chemicals but sterile water as he did the first time. I found relief within a few days. He said he thought I might need a HYDRO every few years since it did seem to help me a lot. Since you read the blogs on here you know we are all so very different. What helped me may not help you. I Pray it does help and hope you keep us posted. Hugs, Ziggy

If you've had to get a 2nd hydro when your pain changed? If so, did you experience relief or did it make stuff worseHey icinak :welcome: to the ICN!

I had my second hydro the middle of May. It had been eight months since my first one and my uro wanted to take another look. PAIN is my primary problem, so he went in prepared to laser off anything that would help with the pain. Unfortunately, he said there were "thousands of lesions" on my bladder wall; he obviously couldn't laser them all and it wouldn't have done any good to laser a few, so he didn't laser any of them! Unfortunately as well, after the anesthesia wore off the second hydro didn't help with the pain either...

From the date of your post, I guess you are having it done as I write this response, so I hope he is doing something to make your pain better. Please let us know how you are feeling as soon as you feel like posting.

Hugs,
~Beth

I had my second hydro on Tuesday of this week. My doc wanted to check in on my IC and it had, in fact, progressed pretty dramatically. What I was not prepared for was being laid out for two solid nights. Yikes! I didn't remember that from my first hydro, but I was a few years younger I guess.

So, if you are going to get a hydro...eat super duper light when you get out and be ready to rest. My job is such that I can never really rest but I didn't have a choice in the matter. I actually tried to go to work the next day and had to leave.

Take your pain meds on the hour. I took 1 percocet (which I hate b/c they make me sick) every 3 hours - my doc told me to do this. On top of that I was told to take my Lyrica as usual and they hooked me up with some anti-bladder spaz meds.

But WOW! Crazy. The thing is, I don't know if it is b/ cof shock or what, but my IC feels non-exisitent right now. My doc was able to zap some of the new ulcers (I guess, I haven't had a chance to talk to him b/c I was a little puddle of drool.)

I have to say though, I don't ever plan on doing this procedure again. I don't really care if it turns our smashingly or not. Too much to handle for this little Alaskan.

My doc is great, and I'm glad that they recommended b/c if it was something scary going on, I'd want to know. The change in my pain was pretty dramatic. So, I'm glad I atleast know what is going on in there.

Okay, off to pop some pain meds.

So happy the Hydro seems it helped your pain with IC. One needs to take about 3 days to get back on their feet and baby their body during that time. Hoping for good days ahead. Hugs, Ziggy

I've had many distentions in the 17 years that I've had IC. Every person responds to things differently, and each distention is different for me. I did great for years having distentions. The pain was always worse for a couple weeks following a distention, but then I usually felt better for quite some time. I've never heard of "zapping" the ulcers, but I'm going to ask my urologist about that. I hope you have success with your procedure and everything goes well for you. sufferingbad
