Interested in others' experiences with Neurontin

Hello! I was just wondering what others' experiences have been with Neurontin. I just started it less than a week ago. After reading some posts on here, I am a little worried about weight gain, since I lost 15 pounds a couple of years ago. I read a couple of posts on here by people on Neurontin who said they are active every day yet they still gained weight. I definitely don't want to gain it back! Also, I read on the paperwork they gave me with the med that it increases the likelihood of ovarian cysts even at low doses. That scares me! It is probably unlikely, but that's something I definitely don't want since I don't have kids yet.

Anyway, the first day I took the Neurontin, it made me feel like I was very drunk, and I did not like that at all. But by the second day it was already better. But today I tried to up my dose to two and it made me totally useless the whole day. I was so dizzy and couldn't think at all and it really scared me. So I went back to one 100mg pill every 8 hours again. Maybe it was too early to go up to 2, but I wasn't having anymore side effects on 1, so I thought it might be time.

My main symptom is urinary frequency. I go about 30 times a day. I also have PFD with muscular pain and spasms.

I am hoping to hear some good feedback about Neurontin, but of course I would like peoples' honest opinions.

Dear Musiclover -

I take Neurontin for an unrelated condition. When I started it, I used 100 mgs the first week and upped it 100 mgs each week until I got up to 300 mgs per day. It made me feel wierd at the beginning and each time I upped the dose; however, it went away. I have never gained weight on it.

Thank you Nancy. I'm glad you brought that up, because I did feel extremely weird on it the other night when I tried to up the dosage. I'm glad to hear you haven't gained weight.

So you only take 300mg a day? I started at 100 mg three times a day and am upping it soon because as of yet it's not working.

I am wondering what is a usual dose of Neurontin for IC. My doctor said take anywhere from 300mg - a max of 2400mg per day. But he said few people would take 2400mg.
