I'm 20 years old, I'll be 21 in October and have been diagnosed with IC. It's very frustrating for the average to be diagnosed with something like this, I think it's even harder for me because of how young I am. I am a very healthy woman besides my Urological problems. What kills me is everytime I am in the MD's office or someone asks me about my health problems or I am in the hospital they make me feel like crap and like I "shouldn't" be sick because they're always like "You're only 20, you're too young to be having these problems etc..."

Does that drive anybody else CRAZY? It's like HELLO, I'm not ASKING for these problems but just because of my age they make me feel like it's "shunned upon" that I do have these problems. It just gets annoying, anytime something has to come up with my health related issues, it's always the age factor as well!

ug, yeah, I get the same thing! Every appointment I've gone to, even switching to a new uro-gyn, I get the "But you're so young!" (not so much anymore, I'm 26 now, but even still, it happens enough to boggle my mind.) I always get weird stares too when I'm at the urologist in a waiting room full of mostly elderly people...
I just hate being treated like a tragedy!!! Even my mom is always telling me "you're too young to have all these problems!"

My response has been something along the lines of a snarky, "Tell me about it!" which probably isn't the best way to handle it but... well, it's annoying lol.

I am 19 and so far mostly everybody has been understanding with everything. If they are rude I would just say: Well I'm just one of those lucky ones.
