Tomorrow I go for a hydro, and my doctor wanted to do it when I was on my cycle, but I havent actually started yet so that kind of worries me. I am nervous of the test, I have had surgeries before but that was before I lived with IC pain every day. Just hoping everyone will send me some good luck and relax me :smile tee
thanks!

my procedure did go well. Dr said that my bladder was in very bad shape. I have to go see her next week, post op was originally two weeks but she wants sooner. That makes me a bit nervous. I am pretty sore today, stayed home from work. I am glad that she could see my pain, well you know what I mean. I was so afraid i was going to come out and say no your bladder looks fine. That would of killed me! so I am relieved but why did I have to go to another state to get the right diagnoises (sp)

I'm glad it went well for you. I hope you will have an uneventful recovery. I think it's great that she will see you next week.
Warm hugs,

As bad as it is to say...I'm glad the doctor said your bladder was in "bad shape" at least there's known reason for your pain. When my doctor looked at my bladder he said it looked great, but obviously I have been in distress. I am glad to hear it went well for you, take it easy today, just relax. I know it's frustrating you said you had to go out of state to find the answers? I am just curious where you went, I was in the same boat. I had to finally leave the state to find the doctor to help me, in the end I ended up moving here as well. It's unfortunate but the good news is, you're getting the treatment and help you need, let us know how you do over the next couple of days!!!

this morning I was very sore and had the urge all the time. but this afternoon I seem have settled down more. Which is great! I am still upset that I had to leave the state to get this done. I live in upstate ny near the border of canada and I had to drive and take ferry to Vt to go to Fletcher Allen hospital. I am so glad I did it! I was the one who decided to see a different doctor becuase the uro i was seeing keep telling me all my issues where not from IC. I am not proud that I have IC but I am, does that seen?? lol Thank you everyone for your support, I would be lost sometimes if I wasnt able to see all this on here.

Oh honey I feel you 100% I am glad you feel you have made the right choice. I had to do the same. Urologist's in Connecticut kept telling me, no there's nothing wrong, there's nothing wrong. They didn't do any tests except urine tests they just based it upon the fact that I was 20 and had a Kidney infection. They kept telling me "it was a one time bad bout infection, you're fine" Finally, I went out of state to the Uro my husband was seeing in MA at the Lahey Clinic. He is one of the top in the country and I've got to say--he is FABULOUS. He knew I had a problem, didn't know what it was but he tested and tested until he could figure it out. We ended up leaving CT and moving to MA just because of him and how frequently I had to see him and my husband sees him.
Isn't it amazing how you can receive such different insights from doctor's who are supposedly out there to help the patient and get to the bottom of things. I'm really happy you've found that doctor in VT, I'm sorry you have to travel such long ways, but I know the feeling and I'm really happy you're feeling better today! Keep updating us and letting us know how it's going and how you're feeling!!! :grouphug:

Odd that they want you to do it in your cycle (maybe to associate some of the visible signs they are expecting with your cycle???).
Don't worry, I had one in 2003 + DMSO installations afterwards = remission for 6 yrs. Having another next month to hope to buy 6 more years (at least). It is the best option I've tried so I'm jumping into that first.
Good luck.

A friend of mine is also having the Hydro next week and they were particularly interested in doing it around her cycle as well....maybe there is some association?

the doctor said since my pain seems to be worse during cycle she wanted to check that out. I dont know maybe making sure something else wasnt going on. I wish now I could find out what cuases at the same time frame my right hip to give out. and the tingling and aching in my muscles I am having, specially in my hand and feet but i can feel it all different spots sometimes. I think I am falling apart at 30!

During my dx process I had a laparoscopy to rule out endometriosis as cause of my pain and then cysto/hydro (which showed that bladder and hunners ulcers were cause of my pain).
My symptoms at that time DID flare BAD the week before my period (tho rarely at that time of the month anymore 6 yrs down the road:)), but back then I got some pretty good relief from symptoms after day one of my period.
Well, the drs who performed these dx surgeries did not request that I have them done during my cycle, but ended up that I was on my cycle for both of the surgeries:bonk: Made for a bit of embarrassment on my part, but all was biz as usual and well, at least I now know that when going to hospital to check humility at the door lol!
Yeah, farrel, after the lap I think I cried b/c no endo was found...I was hoping so much that it would be found (and removed, of course) so that would show proof of cause of my pain...so I get you on that part about being concerned that if nothing is found that pain will not be taken seriously!!
I am sorry you have had to travel out of state for treatment :( I don't know how that works w/ insurance coverage??? Hopefully no issues with that. I live on the Mexico border where sadly there is a shortage of specialists and health care is substandard, so for me to travel to see a specialist in one of the major cities or med centers would be much like you have experienced, I imagine, and min 6 hr drive one way. Luckily I have been able to find a gyn in my area who is willing to work and learn with me about IC treatments :bow:he is not an IC specialist but he is my IC specialist and thank the Lord for him b/c otherwise I would have to travel those six hrs to see another dr who may or may not help me.
Anyway, I hope that your recovery continues to be uneventful and that with now having a dx you will be on the way to adequate and appropriate treatment, recovery, and much relief. Please take care!
