Hi everyone,

I had my first PT appt. a couple of weeks ago. I realy like the Physcal Therepist she took a lot of time with me talking about the problems I am having. I had my second appt with her to do some internal stuff. It was very hard to get through but I did it, we were able to find that I am having more problems on the right side than the left. She thinks it could be the pudenal nerve along with scar tisue from a hystorectomy, I had years ago at the age of 27. She gave me some ideas about how to help the pain and breathing stuff to do. I was in a lot of pain when I went to see her because I thought if I took something for pain it might cover up something and she would not be able to find where the pain was coming from. I have been going back and forth with Codiene and Norco for the pain. The Codiene was much easyer to take becuase with Codiene, when it wears off, you go right back to the place were you left off, pain wise. When the Norco wears off it seems the pain is much worse than when you started. The differance between the two drugs is one has an anti inflamitory(Norco )the other did not (Codiene). So, I now know that I must have some inflamation somewhere. Now with the Norco I have found that taking 1/2 tab every 3 hours works better than taking 1 tab every 6 hours because for some reason eather the anti inflamitory wears off or the pain killer does, not sure witch and that cuases the pain to come pack sooner than six hours and there is a lot more pain. By taking 1/2 every three hours it keeps the anti inflamatory working at the same time as the pain medication. The body has inflamation to protect itself from pain so when the anti inflamatory wears off you are going to have more pain than when you started. The reason I stopped the Codiene was because it was not working when I was having the spasms and needed something stronger. My PT feels I need to see the pelvic pain doctor and is trying to get me in so we can figure out what to do about pain management and go from there. I hope he is as good as the PT, she said some good things about him. Thanks to everyone for helping me through this. Cathy :)

Dear Cathy,

I have some suggestion for you for when you see a Chronic Pelvic Pain Doctor.

You may want to ask for a pain medication that is time released, so it is always in your system and doesn't wear off but may occasionally need to be titrated to a higher dosage due to the possibility of building up a tolerance. For example Fentanyl Patches, or 12 Hour Oxycontin......there are hundreds of them.

You could also ask about taking an Anti-Inflmatory Medication such as Celebrex or something along those lines to add to the pain medication so that you get pain relief and inflamation relief.

You could also ask your Doctor for muscle relaxers to take before or after your PT Appointments. Sometimes they are helpful in both situations and in combination with your pain medication.

If you they really think you have PNE, it's time to look at who specializes in it in your area so you get diagnosed by a specialist which saves time and money and suffering on your part. There is a list of them on the main PNE Board Under the Sticky Note......if you need assistance finding one, just let me know.

I am wishing you well and praying that they get down to the bottom of what is causing your pain and then get you onto a good treatment plan soon. :hi:

That is very good advice and I will print it out and take it with me to the doctors office. Also I will remove your name and other stuff you may want to keep private. Thank you so much for your help and support. I hope you are feeling better and better. Cathy
