Hello animal lovers. Well I went and did it again. I was at the pet store buying my dog and cat food, and there he was a little Goldendoodle puppy. I asked to play with him and of course they said yes. Well I fell in love with him, and he liked me too. He has such a great personality, and is quite calm for a puppy, but healthy and happy. I have been obsessed with this dog since I saw him. I really want to take him home, but my hubby says no as we already have a dog and three cats, and truthfully I don't want to upset the balance either because everyone is pretty happy. My dog would love him though as my dog gets along with all other animals and people alike. Also I don't have a fence, and my dog is on a long lead which means I'd have to have two leads or get a fence. This puppy has been there for quite some time now, and yesterday when I went in to buy food I was hoping he was gone, but he was still there getting bigger by the moment. I love animals and feel bad for all of those animals in their cages, and I don't like this particular pet store as they use puppy mills. The only reason I go there is because it's the only place I can get the brand of food I use. Anyway can someone talk me out of this as my husband doesn't want another animal (although he'd love him anyway) as he's thinking about all the things I've said above. I guess I should just avoid visiting him while I'm there.

Awwww....puppies are so hard to resist!

You are doing the right thing though! I REFUSE to buy even a gumball from a petstore that carries kittens and puppies. Even if you "save" one, it puts money in their pockets to replace it with two more.

If you reeeeeally want one, there are usually tons of Goldendoodles in shelters, you can look on petfinder.com- but they are listed as poodle or golden mixes. I personally wouldn't pay a preeder for a breed that isn't AKC recognized, but you can adopt one for pretty cheap.

Just think of that poor puppy's mother- most breeding machines- frankly, they are not anminals to the puppymill owners, just a way to make money- are kept chained up and fed enought so they can pump out litter after litter, and are discarded like trash when they are no longer useful.

I have a friend who almost lost a 7 week old petstore pup from parvo. It was awful- the petstore lied to him, all the puppies were sick, and he ended up paying more for that puppy than he would have for one from a breeder (same breed) that had a litter out of health tested parents who both had American Champion titles.

I totally LOVE puppies and their puppy breath --- especially spotted ones! :)

Oh yes I see your photo Donna!! How cute!!! Do you have just the one? I love Dal*****ns. They have good personalities.

You know I couldn't have children and I think sometimes I overcompensate with the furry kind!!! LOL I saw a couple who had 6 six yesterday, and I thought well if they can have 6 kids why can't I have two dogs!!!! LOL

Hmm the ICN blocked the name of the dog. Can we not name dog breeds?

I agree with anewday. Don't buy live animals from a pet store; that's the only way to stop puppy mills from thriving. Get a dog from a shelter or from a reputable private breeder or a rescue society if you must have a specific breed.

Yes I agree 100%. I wish they didn't breed the dogs that way. It's not neccessary. It would be so easy for them to have a more humane way of adopting out animals as there are so many that are unloved. I looked at what breeders are charging and I saw some going for over 2K. I couldn't believe it. With so many given up because of the economy and people losing their homes. It's just that I've fallen for this particular one. You know how it is?

In our area, most of the pet stores buy from local breeders so we can check them out. I do hate puppy mills!

That's how it should be.
