I have been taking Cymbalta since March of 2008 and ever since I have considered myself to be in "remission." Well not any more. My pain is coming back and my bladder has been in hyper-spasm mode. I am very uncomfortable all the time and so I guess im staring to realize that I am not as lucky as I thought I was. I thought it(IC) was GONE!!! NOPE! I do not want to have to start over with all the doctors and all the B.S. they put me through, I went through hell and back, not fun. So my question basically is, do any of you take an antidepressant for pain other than Cymbalta or Elavil-it didn't work, caused worse problems, that treats your pain AND depression, because I need help with both. I am not looking forward to having to ask for pain meds but its looking that way. I would much rather take some type of antidepressant than anything else. What WORKS for you? Please help!!

Lryica is what helped my bladder more than anything.. It is not an antidepressant but it is not a narcotic either. It is for nerve pain and used for Fibro patients. BUT I was given it for my Vulvodynia nerve pain and the added benefit was it helped my IC..

I'm not on any anti-depressants right now (bad experience w/ Elavil) but I will tell you that I was on Cymbalta for TWO days and I was peeing FIRE! I looked it up online and found the #1 side effect of Cymbalta is painful urination...

feel better :hi:
