Hello, everyone!

I am brand new to your forum, and am very thankful for this source of support.

I have always had UTI-s at a rate of at least one per year, but the most recent one (or what i thought was one) started in January of this year.

My general physician put me through a couple rounds of antibiotics after I begged them to, and then sent me to their favorite urologist whom I do not like.

I have always had to urinate frequently, but could usually go only two or three times per night. Now I'm up to every hour of half hour, and am getting zero sleep because of this.

I tried Elmiron for less than a week, and became upset at the hair loss even though I was expecting it (I know this is a short amount of time for treatment and for getting that side effect, but it did happen). I stopped it a month ago.

I have been supplementing with Quercetin, Bromelain, calcium, mint tea, antacids, and occasionally whatever I find good info on, just to try something.

Even though I try very hard to follow the dietary guidelines for IC, my symptoms have been getting worse and worse. Slip-ups happen unintentionally or intentionally (I have had a hard time giving up my one cup of tea in the a.m., but have now done it), and despair is setting in again.

I don't like my doctor because he does not listen to me at all, and orders expensive tests without telling me he is going to do so and without sharing the results. My first visit, the told *ME* to go home and Google IC to see if *I* thought that was me!!! He never even mentioned the fact that I should change my diet! I had to BEG for a diet sheet from his office on my second visit, and the doctor just dismissed my interest in it completely. So I am back to square one with the medical community. :help:

If anyone knows a good resource for finding a good urinary doc, please let me know. In the meantime, thanks for listening.

Thank you! I do apologize in advance if I don't something that is somewhere on this wonderful site. There is so much information here! I want to read it all. =) p.s. -- I live in the middle of a medical black hole, so I would have to drive a couple of hours to see any of those doctors, but it would probably be worth it!

You don't need to apologize for not knowing where everything is found. Everyone here has been new to the boards. :)

I can relate to living in a medical black hole!

There is a lot of helpful info at this site and it's going to take you a while to find it. I did want to mention that I received a diet sheet from my doctor and found it was not near as good as the one here at ICN. If you've not already found it this link will take you there: http://www.ic-network.com/diet/dietcheatsheet.html
