Thought I would go ahead and start asking for encouragement. I'm quite terrified. Some of my symptoms have improved since March...new ones have gotten worse...and others have appeared or come and gone since everything from the ribcage down (gastro and repro) also decided to behave in new and unexpected ways. So far nothing else I've gotten into has gone quite as expected (1st instill, Elmiron) :bunny: <--I am not a happy bunny, or a comfortable bunny, a pain free bunny, or an unpuffy belly bunny...but as of a few weeks ago I can roll out of bed once and pee over 600ccs, and as of today I can pee fast. (Apparently I may not be gifted w/ simultaneous volume and velocity.) I need the cysto...my uro is just itching to know what my urogyn sees...but the rest of it makes me wish deeply there were an algorithm that predicted the probability of whether the procedure would make me worse long term. Pain level preprocedure? Capacity? Body size? Liking science fiction and puppies? We don't know, do we?

Hugs for all those recovering...I'd wait on you if I could...and soothing thoughts with intelligent rational decision making capability for me :) I have bloodwork tomorrow, checkup Thursday, preop next week and procedure 23 Jun. I have given two weeks' sick leave notice and will have company, but that's about it right now.

It's totally normal to be nervous about any procedure.

You'll be okay. :) I just had my first one exactly one week ago. Other than being completely groggy when I woke up and the burning from the medication they put in it was fine. They should give you tons of painkillers to keep the pain minimal. To be honest with you, I was absolutely terrified. I had never gone to a hospital for anything other than a minor skateboarding accident almost 20 years ago. lol The only inconvenience after you go home is the burning when you pee the first day but it's really not that bad, stubbing your toe is worse. lol You'll do great and you'll be back on your feet the next day. Best wishes to you. :)

Thank you, sorry I haven't been on here in a few days. Did very well on a weekend trip for my birthday, even on a boat ride :->

Had preop appt today. I'm still very hesitant but was reminded I was there for a reason today as I wasn't feeling great (it was time to rest after traveling). I had to go by myself though and I was nervous enough I'm not sure I got all my questions answered.

Dr. says he fills to 80cm of pressure during hydro, not looking for a particular volume. I'm not looking for medical expertise but does anyone know if this is typical/aggressive? I did ask him but am just wondering.

Thinking of you all...

(also is it funny to take joy in mosquito bites? after all...you know where they come from, you know how to make them feel better...you know how they are supposed to itch...and you know when they are going away!) :->

I'm sure you'll do fine :)
its normal to be nervous. With any hope you'll be posting afterwards that it was no big deal and provided you with some relief!

Hello everyone, haven't been on in awhile but wanted to say surgery Tuesday went well. I had great nurses and two great anesthesiologists, a scopalamine patch and post op IV painkillers and prescriptions without asking for it, and I remember my doctor being really nice and sharp. All the good stuff. Peeing was slow after the hydro but oddly I never did have any razor blades. The laparoscopy has been the most uncomfortable part; I knew I might have up to three incisions (had two) but one is right over my bladder (note to self, next time *ask if you need to wax*) and I keep sitting wrong. Also I didn't know about laying flat as long as possible and the leftover gas from the lap put tremendous pressure on my chest and in my shoulders--really painful. Unfortunately my doctor said he didn't see anything out of the ordinary either in the lap or the cysto/hydro but I guess we'll get more info at the post op appt next week b/c that doesn't erase the symptoms I was having. I haven't really noticed any improvement in the peeing department yet and the vulvar pain I was having before came back full time this morning--I was doing pretty good there--so I guess it will be time to see what the doctor says and determine the next step or approach. I wonder what on earth is wrong with me...

Anyway happy summer all and thanks for the encouragement; it's beautiful and green and sunny here.
