:cussing: I had a hydro done this past monday, so it has been almost a week. When I first got home I couldn't pee at all so the next day I had to go back and have a cath put in. They left that in from tues-thurs morning, That day when I came home I was peeing every 15-20 minutes about 200-250ml each void. That calmed down and since then I go about 150-200ml every 1-2hours but I still have to force the stream, and I get this horrible cramping pain when I start to urinate! Now its sunday they had put be on flomax earlier in the week and said by this monday I should be back to normal, But its sunday and now I am drinking lots of water, and I havent gone pee in like 4 hours but I dont feel urgency at all. I am losing it here! The doctor said that my bladder is just confused from the hydro, and the pain starting to urinate is from bladder spasms, and why I have to force is because my bladder neck is still inflammed. Has this ever happened to anyone? I've searched and searched and I cant find anything that says why this would happen? All of my cultures are clean! If anyone can help please do

The forcing/straining is probably a part of the problem. You might try sitting in a tub of warm water to see if that will relax your muscles enough to let you go without straining. The other alternative is to have your doctor teach you how to catheterize yourself until you can go on your own.

Definitely the forcing/straining is making it worse. Like Donna said "sitting in a tub of warm water may help relax the muscle. Sometimes I have to use ice pack also. Hope you get relief soon.

I ended up going to the er last night because of retention and abdominal pain. As soon as I got there they asked me to urinate, I went in reluctently because it was so painful and hard to do. As soon as I started it exploded out and a huge blood clot came out. Apparently the clot had been obstructing the flow. Im feeling better today and I notice I dont have to strain once I get started, still a little straining to get going but I feel the pain I described will go down as the more times I urinate without having to strain as much! I thank god and pray that this is the last problem from the procedure, and never want to do it again. I know its beneficial to some, but to me it made me a lot worse I only have the pelvic pain of IC and not urinary problems and it gave me both, so I look forward to getting back to normal.
