Is it a common symptom to have extreme sensitivity to light.
I cannot go out in the sun at all - bright lights hurt my eyes and
I get horrible migraines. I am trying to work with this problem.
I have been trying to live in the dark for years now and I would like to
finally change this! Is it a symptom of IC?
Does anybody else experience this symptom or have any tips for dealing with it... aside from big hats and sunglasses?
The only thing I've found that helps this is lots of vitamin b especially b2.

Thank you,
Liesl

I'm not very light sensitive, but some members of my family are. I do try to remember to wear my sunglasses as I was told after I had cataract surgery. I have hats, but can't stand wearing them.

I have recently become extremely light sensitive. I am wondering if it's the pyridium I'm taking. Direct sunlight really hurts my eyes now.

I haven't seen anything here or anywhere else to indicate that light sensitivity is associated with IC. If you suspect pyridium or any other drug, try a search on the drug's website and see if it's a side-effect.

I would suggest that anyone who develops a sudden increase in sensitivity to light should talk to their doc and your eye doc too.

I wonder if there is a medication that you are taking that causes your eyes to adjust to light slowly??? I have no idea if this is even possible or something that might be causing your sensitivity, but I think it a good idea to check with your doctor and with a ophthalmologist.

I'm really unsure as to the light and IC connection, but I know exactly what you're talking about when it comes to migraines. I try to live in the dark as much as possible in an effort to keep migraines at bay and any bright light, whether it be sunlight or indoor light just doesn't work well with my system. I'm a constant wearer of sunglasses, even indoors and while I would love to spend a nice sunny day outside it doesn't usually bode well for my evenings if I do so.
