Hi gang, long time no post, I know. I had augmentation surgery in January and I am still having bladder spasms, pain, pressure before, during and just after urination. I've yet to make through a movie without a bathroom break. I wake about every 2 hours during the night to urinate.

Has anyone else who has had an augmentation had similar experiences? My surgery was done in LA (I live near Orlando, FL) and just found a urologist familiar with my LA surgeon's procedures and my health issues in Tampa. Regardless neither is just around the corner from me so a bit of advice before I haul myself over there would be much appreciated. (oh yeah did I mention that long car rides are not fun, still!)

My situation is better than before the augmentation surgery, I retired my depends. Although I am in pain it is less than before my pain level is uncomfortable.

I hate to tell you that I did not have much luck with my augmentation. I felt it was also an improvement, instead of urinating every 5- 15 minutes, I was able to wait 30 minutes. My uro did not feel that was good enough, plus I began to have other problems too. I started to form bladder stones, have constant infections etc. which I did not have before the augmentation. He did a cystoscopy and found that the IC had spread to new bladder so 8 months after having the augmention he ended up needing to take out my bladder and urethra, it was a big relief. I also with my augmentation was not able to urinate on my own, I had to cath myself. I wish I could be telling you a more positive experience. I hope that in time things settle down for you. What does your uro say about all this?

Thanks for sharing your experience. I don't know anyone that has had this procedure except for you great IC'rs.

I will be calling tomorrow to make an appt. I have a new uro about 2 hours away (beats flying to LA from FL!). I've just been putting things off hoping for a positive change.

I, too, did not have UTI's prior to my augmentation. My results are better in some ways than before the augmentation but I am not having the quality of life I should be having.

I will post any news I get from my Dr. when I get it.
