What can I do to ease constipation on a daily basis. I was thinking flax seeds or something...
I use FiberSure, it's a soluble fiber supplement you mix into foods (like oatmeal or pancake dough) & drinks.
My doctor also recommended Colace (taken with meals), but I find FiberSure to work better.

Since I just started taking Oxytrol and have had chronic constipation as of just a few months ago, I'm a little worried about this myself. I usually take Benefiber, but haven't needed it lately. But now with the anticholergenic effects of this med, I am worried. My plan is to make sure to drink enough water and I just bought some prunes. I know even prunes can be addictive to the colon, though, so you probably shouldn't eat them everyday to combat constipation, but I know it's also better for you than laxatives or stool softeners. So I guess I'll stick with the Benefiber and eat prunes as needed for now and see how that goes.

Everything makes me constipated so I know what you are talking about. Since my IC diagnosis I have been taking magnesium (with calcium during the day) at night for regularity. I have never in my life been better as far as that is concerned. Try smaller doses at night 500mg should do it. I usually got first thing in the morning. Good luck,

I have taken Vesicare for a right at 1 year -- I also have IBS - C (with horrible constipation) I have to take Amitiza 24mcg twice a day and Miralax twice a day (everyday for both meds) -- I hope your constipation is not and never will be this bad -- but if the natural remedies aren't working for you, you might want to try the Miralax -- it's over the counter now so you shouldn't have any problems finding it at your nearest pharmacy. It's expensive, but does the job for most folks. Hope you feel better soon.

I did not have chronic constipation until I got IC.
Just so you know... calcium tightens your bowels. So for those of you that take a supplement or a lot of Prelief/Tums, that may add to your constipation.
My doctor recommended drinking a lot of water, and taking Miralax/Colace.
Both are prettye expensive so I get the general brand of Colace (check the main active ingredient) at Wal-Mart. The generic is about $4 compared to about $12.

I use miralax on a daily basis sometimes I take every other day. My doctor told me to take the miralax. I also use 4 stool softners as well as taking citracel chews 4 daily. I have 3 or 4 meds that cause constipation. This is what I use and my doctor is fully aware of all. Hope you get relief soon.
