I had an in office cysto about 6 hours ago (as well as the potassium sensitivity test). It was quite difficult, as my urethra is extremely inflamed. When my uro first inserted the camera I screamed and jumped back so far and fast that it ripped out. He then had to reinsert it and start over, followed by the pst using a low fric cath. I was told to expect some severe pain for 24-48 hours, my uro even gave me some percocet to help me get through it. He warned me that urinating would be very painful, but said nothing about blood. The first time I went after leaving the office there was a little blood. The second time there was a little more. I just urinated again and there were a couple of blood clots. Does anyone know if this is normal? Please tell me what you guys experienced. Should I try calling the office tomorrow (or more likely my pcp since it will be Saturday)? Any sharing of your post-cysto experiences would be so helpful. :help:
Thanks so much in advance.
Sonja
I've never had *just* the cysto, but I did have a cysto w/ hydro and know I peed with some blood at least the first handful of times I peed.
If you're still having some blood in the morning and are concerned about it you could always call to check.

Bleeding is normal for the first day or two after a cystoscopy. If it continues for more than another 24 hrs, gets worse, you notice an increase in pain or start running a fever contact your Dr.
From what you're describing so far it sounds normal.
i've had both an in-office cysto and a cysto/hydro/biopsy done under anesthesia and on both occasions experienced some minor bleeding and painful urination.
Feel better...

If the bleeding hasn't slowed this morning, I think you should call your doctor. I hope you feel better quickly.
Warm healing thoughts,

Thank you all! The bleeding tapered off today and my pelvic area feels much better now. However, I have been vomiting off and on all day. I don't think I have a fever, and I could actually see my meds, so I don't think they made me sick. I've been able to hold down a little water for several hours now, so I think it's getting better. I'm so lucky, my BFF/sister is also my pharmacist. She said that in studies, more people taking placebos had nausea and vomiting while taking Lyrica and Elmiron. Based on my symptoms, she thinks I just have food poisoning from a turkey sandwich I ate at Dairy Queen after my appt. last night. Now I'm going to venture to the kitchen and try to keep some toast down, with some organic ginger ale. I'm bummed that I can't start my new meds today though....oh well, wish me luck with the toast!
Hope everyone is hanging in there tonight. I thought I could be tough and go to mass, but that just isn't happening
