Great question! I did a quick search online, but ended up just as confused as you about this. Several sites said they are acidic, and several said they arent. :loco: One site even had a recipe for "Persimmon Punch" that is suggested as a home remedy for GERD. So, the only thing I can figure is that it must vary depending on the particular variety of Persimmon. :loco:
Sorry I couldnt help you with this! Hopefully someone else will come along with a better explanation.

Persimmons are not considered to be very acidic. They are a good source of Vitamin C so you might want to err on the side of caution if you're sensitive in that regard.

I seem to be ok with persimmons. Mom gets them at an asian grocery store. Do they have persimmons at a Trader Joes or a Whole Foods?

I can eat them, especially the ones you eat like an apple.

Sorry but this thread brought back funny memories for me. My parents have a persimmon tree in their yard. I don't know if any of you have had the misfortune of taking a bite of a green persimmon but it is not pleasant at all. Being country kids we were always looking for some fun so everytime someone's cousin or friend would come to visit our little neighborhood when the tree had green fruit, we would of course talk them into trying one and then laugh and laugh. We had all been through it so it was somewhat of an iniciation!! To this day I have never had one that was ripe. They seem to ripen so fast, then the birds get them all or they rot and fall to the ground.
Totally off the topic, but brought back memories. BTW, nobody ever got too mad at us!!
