My husband and I have been trying to get pregnant for over a year now. We started fertility treatments about 8 months ago and have gone through four IUIs. Three of my IUIs I had no flares. My 4th round was horrible. I started flaring after my clomid pills and then had a HORRIBLE flare, UTI and YI all at the same time. I ended up having an IUI right in the middle of all three and needless to say were not pregnant. I started feeling better about a week ago and decided to try again just in case it wasn't the Clomid that threw me into a flare - long story short I am now off Clomid and five days into another flare. The worst part is I usually flare around my the date of my ovulation so just as this flare is finishing up, it will be time for my system to go into another one. Is anyone else having this issue? How long do your flares usually last? I think we're done with fertility treatments at this point. I'm so sick of being in pain!

When you are getting your IUI's, does your dr. do a vaginal ultrasound to check & make sure your follicles are releasing the egg? The egg is microscopic but the follicular cyst should completely rupture or decrease in diameter. Just checking to make sure you are actually ovulating & don't need HCG to release. (It's all about timing)

Also, are you doing the IC diet & not just flaring from certain foods or beverages? Because I'm just thinking of things you could do so that you don't flare. Feel better.

I also flared with clomid, so my dr usually gave me anti-spasmodics each medicated cycle to take along with the clomid. I still flared, but the anti-spasmodics helped me out a lot.

There are other fertility drugs as well that you could try, but everyone reacts differently. Also, the flares could be caused by all the fluid in your abdomen. When you are on fertility meds, those extra follicles release a lot of fluid, and when you pop those eggs, there's even more fluid released, and that causes a LOT of pain for some women.

Sonograms are very important when you're doing medicated cycles and IUIs. You want to make sure you have ripe follicles when the IUI is done, and you want to make sure also that you have a blood test to check your e2 levels before the IUI as well. It helps measure your egg quality. It's how I found out my eggs were very bad quality (I won't use the word my dr used). At least I found out though.

Hope you are able to find something that works for you soon and that you can be posting in the pregnancy group sooner rather than later.

I have been doing ultrasounds before my IUIs. I just had an HSG done and it showed that I have a retroverted uterus. I had a c-section with our first child and scar tissue has settled over the opening of my uterus and the doctors think that may be a reason why the sperm isn't getting to the egg in time.

I usually flare when I'm ovulating and most of the time I have no issues handling the pain with a little prosed and some advil, but the last few months have been h*ll! I went nearly two years without a horrible flare (just random flares due to eating the wrong thing and ovulation).

I just don't understand why three rounds of clomid and HCG are painless for me and these last two are so bad! I'm supposed to ovulate at the end of this weekend and am so afraid of the pain!

I'm just so frusterated and so sick of pain.
