I'm just wondering if anyone else has experienced this. Whenever I cough for any reason, I notice I can feel it in my bladder. It seems to make it sting. Does anyone else have this, and what would cause it? I'm beginning to think maybe I do have Pelvic Floor Dysfunction.

This is a natural involuntary reaction for even those who do not have IC, PFD, or related issues.
This involuntary reaction is felt by both men and women when coughing or sneezing, but would normally not cause pain or other symptoms for a person who has no issues down there.
But for those with IC,PFD, etc., these people probably much more likely to be aware of this involuntary reaction esp if it causes them pain or other symptoms. For those with incontinence it may even make them leak a bit. Majority with IC do not have incontinece issues and if they do, it is more likely caused by something else like PFD. And even then just b/c one has PFD does not mean that they will have incontinence issues.
Anyway, try coughing even if you do not feel need to cough, and if you pay attention you will notice that it does cause some pelvic floor, bladder and and vaginal reaction/tension, regardless if it causes pain or other symptoms.:)

Bri you're right. I guess I never realized this before. It really does make my bladder sting though, and I've always believed my IC was caused by my kidney stone procedures that caused some sort of nerve damage and pain. I thinking I probably need to find someone who treats PFD at least for some sort of evaluation? I was doing so well with Elavil, but had to stop because of the drying effect (I have Sjorgen's and fear for my teeth with no saliva) that and the fact it was causing a real problem with constipation. I have no incontinence issues, but the bowel problem is horrible sometimes and can cause a lot of pain. Thanks for your input.

I have been noticing this lately happening to me. I don't have any incontinence issues either. Maybe it's just me getting older (I'm 37). Any kind of jarring or sudden movements can cause me to have bladder pain epecially when I am flaring like I am right now. Dakota, you could very well have other issues "down there" or you might not. This disease is very mysterious and the symtoms vary from patient to patient.
