Does anyone take Uroquid? My doc prescribed it in place of Prosed because Prosed isn't covered. I even had to get the generic. The pill really smells...like low tide. Yuck! I haven't taken it yet but if I start smelling like low tide that pill has got to go!!! I am a little afraid of using new meds but I had been taking Uristat for too long and thins is what they gave me. I think I'll try it tomorrow in case I have a reaction.

From what I can find in a search, it is used for bladder infections:
Preventing and treating urinary tract infections.
Uroqid-Acid No. 2 is a urinary antiseptic and urinary acidifier combination. It works by concentrating in the urine as formaldehyde, which kills bacteria in the urine. ~ Drugs.com

Thank-you Sharon. I am experiencing some pain but I had pain early this morning and I had not taken it yet. Are there some IC patients who can't take these kinds of drugs..Prosed etc.?

I have not taken any of the "pee-blue" meds tho I do take Pyridium sparingly and only as needed with good results (Uristat is the same as Pyridium, it is the OTC version of Pyridium, just a few mg less per dose).
I will look up the ingredients in Uroqid-Acid No. 2 to see how it compares to Prosed DS and the others that are similar to it such as Urelle, Utira C, UTA. Many seem to be able to tolerate these meds very well, but many seem to have a preference for one or another or tolerate one or another better for different reasons, the ingredients might be the same or very similar but in different ratios....and yes it is possible that you might not be able to tolerate this specific med but possibly something similar you would be able to.

Click on this link to see thread that shows the ingredients in the different "pee-blue" meds, including Uroqid # 2. Uroqid does seem to be quite a bit different than the other "pee-blue" meds.

Preacher Girl,
Maybe your pharmacy made a mistake and gave you Urosquid intead of Uroquid, and that's why it smells like low-tide.

Sorry I don't know nothing about the pills. If the smell concern you might be calling your Pharmacy and ask about it and see if it is normal. Just hope you start feeling better soon.

Y'all are too much. Goldfinch wins the award for best comedy.
This drug doesn't do anything. I found out the smell is the formaldehyde. Eeeewww! So, I am being embalmed a little early. Anyway, my doctors office is out of whack. They had a choice between generic Urised and Uroquid and the chose Uroquid. It doesn't work like the pyridium does. I know because tonight I tried pyridium and I feel much better.
Clearly I am going to have to chat with the elusive and possibly stupid Dr. R.
