hi all...
since my vicodin has been upped I have expereinced some major constipation, along with horrible bloat & bad tummy pains. i take a laxative a day, eat lots of fiber & still dont feel "empty".

i need to know if anyone on here has used the ***** detox program? i just ordered it & plan on using the colonix (totally cleanses you out), then in a few weeks will do the toxinout (takes out all the heavy metals & toxins)....i am praying that it will work & i will get all this junk out of me & make my belly better.

so if anyone has used it...PLEASE give me some feedback..i very much appreciate it!!!

Karen I believe most pain meds cause constipation. I have never heard of **** detox program, sorry to say. I had terrible constipation! VERY INCOMFORTABLE! I take Miralax in my morning pretend (Roma) coffee. I take it every other day and it works wonders for me. Since I started Miralax I have felt so much better. Let us know how you do with the Dr. Natura thing. So many on here have the same problem. We need all the information we can get and decide what might be best for us. Wishing you good days ahead. Hugs, Ziggy

SandyRN recently posted about her own life-threatening situation that was caused by severe constipation. You can read about it here:

http://www.ic-network.com/forum/showthread.php?t=56879

Her post was jolting, frightening, and definately a wake-up call for many of us who frequently suffer from constipation from our pain meds.

My Mom is an RN and years ago when she worked in a nursing home, constipation was a frequent problem with the residents due to their many meds and inactivity. She said that many Physicans ordered "3-H Enemas" for their patients. A 3-H Enema stands for "high, hot, and a heck of alot!" Many of them also ordered a tall glass of warm prune juice in addition to or instead of the the "3-H enemas". Mom said that these measures worked most of the time, and that patients with chronic issues were given warm prune juice daily to keep things moving along.

Now they also have different fiber supplements that are odorless, colorless, and tasteless that can be cooked into and mixed into meals, so that you'd never even know you were taking one. Whenever I make soups, cassaroles, pancakes, baked items, etc. I try to mix some in. No one ever knows it's in there besides me, and no one has ever questioned the taste. :) It makes everyone healthier and no one is the wiser! :) If you havent tried any of those yet, definately give them a try! (Although, IMHO, the fiber supplements are more for bowel/colon maintenence than a quick fix, which is obviously what you need first, and THEN a good bowel maintenence program.)

But, I am begging you to please, please see your Dr. if you dont get this under control soon! I don't want to be reading a thread by Donna or Jill about you soon starting with the words, "Very sad news about Floridamom..."!

Hope you get things under control soon and start feeling better!

Please --- I urge you --- talk to your doctor first! For one thing, if you do have severe constipation, taking a harsh laxative could cause serious problems.

I've used the **** program before. It worked wonderfully and I felt great -- very full of energy. But, this was before I got IC and I would be afraid to use it now because one of the components is a senna tea. You could always just order the fiber mixture and try that.

I suggest you read the information at http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20080822054838AArzfKY before you go for this.

I personally think it's a bunch of hooey and people end up dependant on it.

But if I were going to try it, I would make sure to run it by EVERY doctor I have- primary and specialist. You never know what could upset a condition you have.

I took an over the counter "water pill" a couple of years ago. I ended up with SEVERE bladder pain-the primary care doctor who saw me said he had never seen someone in so much pain in the bladder area. My IC was undiagnosed at that point, but I think now that one SINGLE dose probably made my undiagnosed IC flare like crazy.

I used to work as a pharmacy technician- my pharmacy manager (pharmacist) always said (over and over again, always while shaking his head) "It's amazing what people will put into their bodies without consulting a doctor". OTC meds, supplements, herbs, vitamins, etc. can have crazy side effects and also can have dangerous drug interactions with other OTC products and RX'd products.

just wanted to update you all on my const. issues, LOL.

I saw my IC doc yesterday & he is TOTALLY fine with me using the colon cleansing kit & says it should help ALOT with the constipation.

Once I am finished with it, he says i am to take a stool softener EVERY day & use a laxative ONLY once a week if needed (it is very harsh on our bellies & our IC).

SO far with this kit I ordered...i have been on it for almost 2 weeks & i see a noticeable difference in my #2 pattern. I finally can go to the bathroom & my big swollen belly is going down.

I am sticking with the colon cleanse kit & hope to get all this gunk outta me!!! I will also be very mindful of what happened to one of our memeber who had that horrible prob. with the constipation.
