I'm trying to be positive about my IC :), I have Insulin resistant also. Since I've been told I have IC I've noticed that my insulin resistant diet and my IC diet conflict. I've gain about 10 pounds in the last 1 1/2 months because of the conflicts. While I was pregnant I needed 5 shots a day of insulin, my sugar levels are now okay as of 5 months ago but I feel that if I was tested now they'd be high (my baby is 5 1/2 months old). I noticed that after my pregnancy my flare-up were all the time really bad, I went to the doctor several times and was finally told I had IC. I can't have the sugar-free stuff I'm use to because it causes flare-ups and I feel lost when it comes to foods I can eat. I'm fighting depression with how I feel and my steady weight gain. I'm wondering if there is anyone with similiar issues that can help me. I'd really rather find the a middle ground so I can feel good. I use splenda, and use to drink crystal light and diet pop like crazy (not much water), they use to take care of my sweet tooth (which is huge now??). Now I drink more water, root beer and milk. Becoming diabetic isn't something I really want in my life, I know that someday it could cost my life and the carbs and sugar I'm eating will lead to diabeties. I'm a mother of 6 children, we have a blended family. I want to be there for them when they need me, I refuse to let IC or diabeties run my life. I just need a start on the right track. If there is anyone that can give my that jump start of suggustions, it would be very appreciated.

Thanks and God Bless,
Brenda

The best thing I can think of is to talk with your doctor about possibly taking diabetes education classes. Since it sounds like you had gestational diabetes, you could very easily develop diabetes at some point. I'm diabetic and following my diet, along with IC diet and exercise, is actually helping me lose weight. Most insurance companies will cover diabetes education.

Thanks Donna,

I did take the classes during the last 2 pregnancys, I've had the prediebeties (insulin resistances) my hole life. My docter told me that and said that if you devolop insulin resistance at an older age it's accompanyed by high blood pressure and cholesterol and mine are great. Since I've become less active (I also have sactica back nerve pain) it's came out in the last 6 years. I've learned how to eat with my sugar problems. With IC all that yummy sugar free stuff is a no no. What do you do with a sweet tooth? Thank you for your addvice.
