Hi everyone,
I wanted to know if there is a similar drug like Elavil that does not give me the worst dry mouth ever and after reading a post under this category, I too have had what feels like an increase in heart rate...I take 25mg a night and it helped so much when I first started...then went up to 50mg and was feeling worse IC wise, not that this was the reason, I don't know, but the dry mouth was insane.
Please anyone let me know if there is an alternative med to Elavil...
Also I know a Dr. or Pharmacy should answer this and I have asked my pharmacy but wanted to see if anyone here knows if any of my meds could react in a way that makes my IC worse:
I take:
Wellbutrin 300mg a day
Fish Oil 2 capsules a day
Stool Softner every other day
Asidopholis - 2 capsules a day
Chinese Herbs - 12 a day
As Needed:
Pyridium Plus
Percocet
Lidocaine
Levsin for IBS
Diflucin for yeast
Valtrex for coldsores

Thank you!

It's nearly impossible to even guess because you are taking some things that don't list contents. I think it would be a good idea to take all of the containers with you and talk with your doctor. Do you have any idea what herbs are included in the "Chinese" ones? If you're taking 12 a day, you're getting a lot of those.

I do know what is in the herbs and really the chinese meds and acupunture ladies I'm seeing really know what they are doing, they are also certified nurses...and my doctor is over an hour away and hard to get into to see...so I try and figure most things out on my own :(

Remeron (mirtazapine) has been a godsend for me but I don't know if you can take it with Welbutron since they are both anti depressants. It lets me sleep through the night and apparently has anti histamine properties that calm down my angry bladder. Good luck to you.

You mentioned that you feel like your heart rate has increased. I also take Wellbutrin, and both my GP and neurologist have told me that it can cause anxiety at higher doses. If I try to take more than 150mg a day it will cause me to have shortness of breath, chest pain....in a word..anxiety!
