Well here we go again. i told my doctor back in February that something was not right . The interstim was feeling different. I had it reprogrammed then and still something was nto right. Well when I continued to have may issues with the IC I had to go back to the doctor. Guess what one of my leads is not working and the rep thinks the other one has moved. That is why my toes on the left foot curl under when laying flat.So I have to go back under anesthesia and have new leads put in. The doctor told me I can not have any more hydrodistentions because my bladder is so stiff he just can ot stretch it any more...Please pray the last thing I want to do is to have bladder removal surgery ...:(

Whoa, That sounds scarey about your bladder being stiff, I wish there was some kind of injection that can soften the bladder so it wont become stiff anymore, Anyway, I will be praying for you.

I agree Katrina, I remember I went to my urologist he's a good old urologist and he asked me was I cured - that was a few weeks ago when I wasn't voiding as much at the time, He should know - he's the doctor, I just wanted to laugh when he asked me that silly question, But he did tell me if you have anymore problems please give me a call.

Gosh, I'm so sorry to hear about the leads breaking...how are you holding up? I hope you don't have to have your bladder removed either. Perhaps there are other alternatives to try first .(?) Would you consider getting a second opinion, maybe a different uro could offer new slant/insight....I had 3 uros working together at one time to help me.
Keep us updated on how you are, k? :)

THANK you all for your support. I have had 3 opinions in the past concerning the IC. i am doing allright I talked to my husband and we agreed unless I am stranded to the house completely and on disability then and only then would I consider such an aggressive measure. Hugs to all

Hi Sandy,
On my second year with the InterStim Implant I was told my lead wire had crack in half at the center of the spinal core, so I had it removed and place with a new lead wire..
It was a day sugery and I stay in overnight in the hosptial..
I found this surgery was not bad at all and I was back to work with in two weeks..
So I wish all the best Sandy!!
Debbie

I had my lead wire replacementon Friday. But what a shock when I woke up and found out that he did not take out the old leads he just added new leads. So once again I am in a trial period. Anyone else have this happen. I have such an unusual curve at the bottom of my spine that he felt he had to reroute. I go to his office on Tuesday . He told my husband that he can do the rest in his office. Unfortunately I am very confused and wont know anything until then. My bottom cheeks are so sore especially where they inserted the lead wires but guess what my bladder is not spasoming...So I am grateful for that. Anyone else feel like you are on a merry go round with IC... I do. I will keep you posted. The doctor also told my husband that I am a prime candidate for disability. Ane he would do what ever he could if I decide to go that route. I love my job. Thanks for all your support and prayers...Sandy N.

Yes, I imagine most of us do from time to time--in fact that's rather true with life in general sometimes-- :dogrun:

Hi Sandy,
Well I can't understand why the doctor did not remove your lead wire??
As when I had it done over my doctor told me it took him longer to remove the lead wire and he wanted to make sure it was out, he had lots of problems due to having skin growth over the lead wire and my surgery took over six hours to do this..
I would be asking lot of questions if I were you as to why to the unusual curve at the bottom of my spine:hmm: :hmm:
I hope things will go good for you Sandy..

Debbie, I know about the abnormality at my tail bone. I just do not understand why he did not remove the old leads. I have written down many questions for him. When you got your new leads did the doctor connect them right to your implanted battery pack or did you have the outer one which is like a little box the trial one. I am so confused and can not wait until Tuesday. My husband did not know the questions to ask, and I never dreamed he was the doctor, not going to remove the old ones. you have been very helpful ..Thanks Sandy N.

Hi Sandy,
Yes he connect the lead wire to my Implant that is inside of me when he did the surgery..
I had the InterStim Implant done for five years on April 20,I will being going for my check up tomorrow as I go every six months...
So Sandy you are still doing the trial procedure and still have not done the InterStim Implant place inside of you as yet??
I would ask him if he is going to remove the lead wires in his office then?
As I did have my trial lead wire done in my doctor's office as he just pulled it out there...
It is did not hurt as he did it so fast ..
Your are welcome Sandy!!
I am always glad to help out when I can..
Hugs, Debbie

Debbie thanks for your response. I had the original implant July of last year and just recently I started having difficulties and that is when the doctor and rep informed me that one of my leads was not working and apparently the other one was not working correctly, apparently in the wrong position, so that is why I had new leads placed and a temp stimulator until I see him again...i try and understand everything but just when I think I do Live throws me a curve. Thanks again. If you want to email me you can henelson@bellsouth.net talk to you soon Sandy
