Ladies I have a question for you - I can't seem to find the "blue pee" version of meds vs. the "orange" ones. I purchased a generic for Uristat at my pharm. but it was still "orange." I have heard some women have better luck with the blue version --- do you know where I can find it? Thanks!!

the blue is Urelle and I believe that the Uristat you have is the generic of that, I am not sure what the generic color is sorry. I use the urelle and it is always blue. :toilet:

I believe you need a prescription for Urelle. It has different ingredients than Uristat.

The pee-blue meds are called urinary tract antiseptics. They are by script only--there is no over-the-counter equivalent. Check out the threads on these meds in the "Treatments for Mild IC" and you can learn what's in them. The Azo or Uristate consist only of phenazopyridine, which is an analgesic, or pain killer. The uta's have a combination of atiseptic or anti-infective, an anti-spascmodic and an analgesic, and they are safe for long-term use.
Some people find one type of med more effective, some the other. I find the phenazopyridine has a more immediate impact on the burning or stabbling I sometimes feel with a bad flare, but the Urelle helps me to get over a long flare as it can be taken for months at a time.
