I have just been officialy diagnosed, however I am sure I have had this for several years. It isn't something I would wish on anyone but I am glad that I finally have an answer.

Now I am looking for a good urologist in the Tulsa area.

If anyone has had success with a doctor please let me know who you are using. I would greatly appreciate the referal.

Thank you

Hi:hi:
Welcome to ICN! I am glad you found us...you will find great support and info here!
I am not near Tulsa...but you might try starting another thread in the Southwestern US Forum with thread title something like "Looking for dr in Tulsa area" to get specific responses on that...and there is a link somewhere here on how to find an IC dr in your area...I'll take a quick look for it and post the link if I find it. May be of some help to you.

Do not rule out gynecologists as a possibilty for treating your IC now that you have a diagnosis. I was dxd officially by a uro but I soon returned to my gyn (who had referred me to the uro for dx) for treatment and it has worked out very well for many years now.

Some gyns are more knowledgeable about IC than others, and some may just be more willing to work with you than others and take your input from your own research in developing a treatment plan that works best for you...and they learn about IC along with you...and then they are able to catch and treat IC patients more quickly; so I for one believe gyns should be very much included in the IC treatment process, even if you also have a uro....many times it takes a team of drs to get our needs met...luckily for me my treatment plan has been successful and fairly simple, but definitely my gyn has learned along with me along the way and he is now treating quite a few more IC patients than just me! Quite a few of us were dxd by uros but now receive treatment from our gyns.

Any, just an idea to keep in mind, in case finding the right uro for you is difficult...but even with a uro, I still strongly believe that the gyn needs to be kept up to date and informed of all treatment, since most women do see their gyns at least once a year, and there are sometimes IC related gyn conditions that uros would rather not deal with...like PFD and Vulvodynia.

Welcome and take care!:)
