Hi all,
Does anyone have any suggestions for IC friendly antibiotics? I've been battling a nasty sinus infection, and my doc put me on Biaxin XL, and for the last 2 days, I've had pain. I haven't done anything different, so I think maybe the medicine might be aggravating the IC. Just wondered if anybody else had taken this medicine and had a flare up, and what ya'll would recommend as IC friendly antibiotics for sinus infections. I wanted to get some info before I called my doctor and asked her to change my medication to something else.

Thanks!
Dee

I personally have had a lot of success with Cipro in the past. It is usually used to treat kidney infections so I don't know if it would do you any good with a sinus infection. Zithromax does wonders for me for a sinus infection and never seems to cause me problems. But for some reason I can never take Augmentin. It has always caused me problems.
Best Wishes. I will be praying for you.

I can take Cipro with no problems. I have taken Amoxacillin (sorry if spelt wrong) and within 30 minutes I started hurting. I am also interesting in hearing any other antibiotics you guys can take that seem to be bladder friendly....

I'm allergic to lots of antibiotics, but I take Keflex no problem when I have a bladder infection. The only thing with that drug is that I often get a yeast infection after a few days on it. So, I do a one day ticonazole kit. Macrobid is very effective on bladder infections, but gives me an IC flare every time.

Good luck! I hope you find something that works for you.

I didn't specify earlier, I am looking for antibiotics for other things like sinus infections or tooth infections. I imagine if I keep taking Cipro I eventually will be immune to it... Microdan doesn't both me either, but does seem to trigger yeast infections.

My primary care doctor prescribed Cipro for me. I take the generic form of it. I take it few days every month. I seem to get flares after my period ends. Is it ok to take Cipro so often though? I take one a day for 3-4 days. I do get itchy too, and I just use AZO cream to relieve the itch.

Kadi, is ticonazole a cream or pill?

I am allergic to Macrobid, Bactrim, septra, sulfa and penicilin type drugs.
