Does anyone know which pain meds help to control the pain without making you feel like you could sleep anytime anywhere. I suspect that some of the opiates might make you feel more energized while others make you feel sleepy. I just switched from opana to methadone(only 10mg daily) but I am soooo very tired compared to being on the opana. Only problem is my pain doctor wanted me to take namenda with the opana to help to keep tolerance down and I feared taking a brain altering drug like namenda.

Methadone will make you tired, but there are counter acting meds that the Dr can giving you if they are willing. Also, methadone doesn't need to be increased over time to continue working. I have read a lot about it lately though and realized that you are to take this strictly as directed. Even if you stop for 2 days and then start again it can cause overdose. It also takes a few days to build up and begin working. I have found my appropriate dosage and do not feel so tired anymore with it. It does work so I would say give it a good try. Just educate yourself so you don't make mistakes it is not the type of med you use when you are in pain only, you have to keep it on a schedule.

Different people react differently to pain medications. What will knock me out could be something others can take and function actively --- and some meds that make others sleepy I can take without noticing any difference.

I used to take Tramadol (an opiod). It didn't do that much for my pain but it helped with my bladder. Anyway, it made me feel chill but with a stimulating effect. I couldn't take it before bed because it would keep me up.

Has anyone had any luck with the pain medication called opanna? Apparently it is new and some have had good luck with it. Trouble is my doctor wanted me to take Namenda with it to block the opitate receptors so I would not become tolerant to the medication. Methadone definitely makes me very tired but I have not had to increase the dossage when I have used it in the past. However waking up more tired than when you went to bed in not acceptable for me. Still trying to find my miracle drug for sure.
