some of you may know i was in the er monday night i have a nasty uti again. i told them then i had bad kidney pain on the right side i also told my uro rn and and my family doctor about the my pain in the right side of the kidney and they said its a pulled muscle and put me on flexeril 10 mg at night.
at the er they found alot of blood in my urine they put it off as ic. pains.
I called the uro again today they got the report from the hosp and added leviquin 250 mg for 14 days with my dusyoycline 100 two times a day and wrote me another pain rx that i asked for because i have doubled up on my perocet and they are tens again.
i would really hate to know the true feeling of this backpain/kidney pain i'm scared it may be a kidney stone ( i have never had one before) my 11 year old son has tho.
i have had kidney pain before but i can't stand to even sit back in a chair without a pillow and a heating pad i'm hurting so badly i don' t know to scream:yikes: or cry.
has anyone else had this pain if so what was it from???? this is driving me nuts with no doctor listening to me. my uro may listen to me if i could talk to him but his head rn protect him from phone calls and she passes on the notes she feels is important i have caught her in this before. I will talk to him about this on the 23rd when i have to go back to see him but i can't stay in pain that long matter of fact if something dont get done soon i will end up back in the er.
(((((((((banging my head and screaming at the same time))))))))))
please help if you can i need some answers.
sending you all hugs and prayers and thank you for answering my question or posting back.
Rhonda.

Dixie, I'm so sorry you're going thru such pain. If you can't get to your doc I would keep going to ER & have them call him! No one deserves to be in pain for so long. Gentle hugs, Kathi
:toosh: to the doctor, LOL

:grouphug: :grouphug: Rhonda,
I am so sorry you are having this kidney pain... I know it can hurt like heck.... The ER or your doctor can do a x-ray to see if it a kidney stone causing your problem ? I know everytime I complain of kidney pain they do a x-ray to make sure... Kidney stones are can be very painful , a kidney infection can be painful too. I do sometimes get kidney pain when I have a uti.Hope your pain goes away and if it does't I would keep at them until it does...... Go back to the ER or call your doctor again... Best wishes

I've had several kidney stones smashed, so I can tell you, yeah, it can hurt really really bad. It could be a stone, or, it could be lots of other things, too. If it's off and on and a real strong stab for a few seconds to a few hours at a time, it may very well be a stone, especially if you can feel it down your side, and especially if you can feel it move along. It couldn't hurt to get an IVP (x ray to look for stones, etc) or a CT. Actually, a CT may be better. Stones can hide on x rays. I found this out the hard way.
The good news is, if it is a stone, and you're doing alright on the pain meds you have, you can probably just wait it out and wait for it to pass. It really couldn't hurt to get it checked out though. A lot of things can have similar symptoms, including appendicitis (that's on the right side, I believe) so usually they like to rule that out. If it is a stone, you may have options to smash it or pull it out, depending on where it is and how big it is. Actually, it wouldn't be a bad idea to get checked for stones anyway. They can cause really nasty UTIs. That's why they smashed mine, because I kept getting infections, yuck. Increased blood in the urine, especially with white cells, is a sign of stones. Did you get a urine test and a culture? Ok, I know this is a lot of info. I've learned a LOT from personal experience with this. Hope I can help.

Sorry you're not feeling so well.:( I actually had the same problem before I was offically diagnosed w/ IC. I had went to my GP about two days earlier and was told I had a bladder infection. About two days later the pain in my back was so herredous I could hardly move. :cussing: I went to the ER and they hooked me up on fluids because I was dehydrated. They also did a urine culture and everything came back clean. I was asked if I wanted to do a CT to check for kidney stones and I agreed. At the time I thought this could be the cause for my urinary problems. My results came back quickly that I did not have any kidney stones. I was told I had pulled my back out and was put on pain medication. I went to see my GP a couple of days later because I wasn't feeling better. She felt my back and said that I had definitely injured my back. I had a knot the size of a grapefruit close to where my kidneys were. She prescribed anti-inflammatories which helped me greatly. I was back up and going in about three days.
Best Wishes to you. Hope everything turns out alright.

Hi Rhonda, sorry that you are in so much pain again. I would go to the ER if it continues and hopefully they will track down and find out what is hurting you so much .I have had a couple of stones, and I passed them, but the pain for me was in the pelvic area and kept coming coming and going, and then I finally passed them. Please keep us posted as to how you are doing, lots of soft hugs and love Iris.  :grouphug:

Thank you all very much for your information it does sound like i have a stone after reading your post. the pain started off every few mins it was like a stapping pain at the top of my kidney i called the uro they said it was a family doctor problem it sound like a pull muscle well i went in to the family doctor he checked my urine and said you have a little bit of white blood cells and bat but its not a uti well with me he should have went a head and started me on anti but he didn't:( now the pain is on going and doesnt let up at all it did move to the middle part of my kidney i can't stand to sit on a chair or lay on it i have took ten perocet today 10.325 since 6:30 am this morning until now and its 10:19 pm here two at a time and it has only dulled the pain. i would hate to feel the true pain its really putting out. i have a heating pad on my back right now and a pillow and its still a hurting i'm taking two diff types of anti right now my uro i guess got my report from the er and said no the one anti want do it you need to be on leviquin for 14 days and he wrote out an rx for 30 perocet just so i wouldnt worry about running out i told the rn at the uro's office i still had some which was true but me takeing so many i would run out. the pain kind of feels like also its in my side some
when i first got ic i hurt really badly in my right side and they said appendicitis i had surgery then and had it taking out and there was nothing wrong with them:mad: I don't want to go back to the er just yet we are finally in the middle of getting our house over in our name and out of my daddy's name so the payments will be cheaper on us we have been paying the payment now at 800.00 a mth for the last three years i know that sounds cheap to some of you but here in south carolina and the wages my husband makes and my ssd check its a big drop in our pockets and with my husband ashtma sometimes he can't work and that kills us too.
so i will be thankful when the house is over in our name and the payment are lowered.
so far everything is looking great so i'm not worried about that.
thank you all so much for careing
sending you hugs and prayers

Dixie, this is EXACTLY what told my urologist with me that it could be stones. When the infection went away with antibiotics, but the white cells didn't (a month later), he said that was a red flag for stones. I'm telling you, that's exactly what he said. I'm no doctor, but it sounds very similar, no? Unfortunately, some doctors think women don't get stones, so they aren't very motivated to go look for them when it looks likely. But really, how hard is it to do an IVP or something? I don't know, perhaps if it doesn't pass within another couple days, it would be worth going back and asking again to get checked for stones.

OK, Rhonda I really hope you are feeling better!!!
I have been there. I was checked into the hospital and had to have surgery to have the kidney to have a kidney stone removed because it was so large and was not going to come out on its own.
If you look at some of my older posts I have brought this topic up before. I really think there is a connection with the IC and the Kidneys. It's seems lately I am finally hearing more people talking about the same thing........ Some of my doctors can't even say that it is not true. There is just no 100% proof of it yet, so......
Anyways right now I am so upset and have been crying and in a huge amount of pain with my kidneys and my IC. It is also my right kidney. I hope it is not another stone again....
I will pray for eveyone...
Take Care,
Stacy

my doctor and I have talked about this before also he said they have been trying to prove that the kidneys can get something like ic also in them he stongly believes this and i do agree with him also. i don't know if i had a stone or not but to me i was really thinking i did because that was the wrose pain i ever felt in my life and i have had three children. i do think i had a very bad uti with a kidney infection because when the anti got in my system well i started feeling better on Good Friday is when the pain finally let up. but another uti has set up on me and i'm on another round of anti. Again. I pray to God this cycle will end soon. thank you all for your support and prayers. all very much thank you so much for being here for me when i need you so.
sending you all hugs and prayers

Rhonda,
I had several kindney infections in a row last year and my right side would just ache and throb with pain. Then during the last round, it got sooo bad that it felt like someone took a baseball bat and beat the heck out of me on that right side. :bonk: It was horrible. I couldn't stand anyone to even lightly touch me on that side. But after several rounds of antibiotics, it totally went away and it has been gone for almost a year!!
I am so sorry you have been in so much pain. It does sound like you are on the upswing though. I pray that you are and that they can get rid of these nasty infections soon!!! You poor thing!!!
Big Hugs and A :kissing:

Hi again like yourselves i am suffering badly with a "Tiny???" stone in my rt kidney!! I am spotting blood and blood in urine. On my 2nd course of Antibiotics in 10 days and it dosent seem to be easing. I initally thould Sex had agrevated my IC but then whatever went straight up to the kidney and full blown infection.
Get so down with it all especially since i had a month of feeling normal again, this seems a backward step again.
Had to ring in work and again felt guilty but what can i do?? Waiting to see my GP later on today am going to hit him with the facts and want some action!!! Have just been through 9 months of constant infec and i'll be damed if i am letting them fob me off this time!!! Fighting talk Lol.
debzx:(
How are you feeling now? I hope you are better.
I'm not sure if I've ever had Kidney pain or not. I have alot of lower back pain with my IC, I'm assuming that's my bladder. Isn't the kiney up farther. I know for awhile I was having pain in my back on the right side, under my bra strap. It turned out that I had gall stones. I had my gall bladder removed.

so far so good i'm feeling much better thanks guys ya'll are Great. its getting about time for my mthly to hit so i expect another uti soon its weird right before my peroid i always get an infection which makes my peroid more painful has anyone of you ever had this to happen its seems like i'm always on anti. in the pass i was on anti full time a low dose of anti but it didnt help my infection always seem to get around the anti i was taking. yesterday we was almost hit by a car in my side if my husband hadnt hit the gas he would have hit us he was coming around a car that was trying to get in a store parking lot and we was trying to trun the other way well that man decided he wasnt going to wait so he rushed around that car as we was truning and he kept pushing the gas well Jeff my husband had to hit the gas hard to get in the parking lot we was going in and of course the parking lot we was going into would have a big whole and my car went slam right in that dang hole i was screaming ( I have bad nerves ) then i was crying that jerk had the nerve to come back and try to jump on my husband Oh what a mess my felt my bladder going into a knot. my husband told him if he was in a hurry he should have left earlier that was very dangerous the way he went around that car and he was speeding! if he would have hit us me and brandon would had gotten hurt badly or killed. thank god for Jeff acting quickly. we checked out car it seems like the only damage was done the car was knocked out of line so i guess that is another bill for us to pay.
i'm still recovering from that shock.
Thank God everyone is safe!
