Help! I have now become absolutely allergic to all types of pads - even panty liners. I am having a flare & am urge incognitent. So I am running to the bathroom, of course not making it, maniy times! I am constantly changing my underwear. OK, fine if I am at home; impractical when I have to go out!

I am taking Enablex 15mg, Urispas and I can use Pyridum. I also am on a host of other meds, as I have: ME/CFS, fibromyalgia, migraines, RA, IBS, thyroid nodules, going through menopause & a heart murmur. (Is that a long enough list :rolleyes:)

I am going nuts changing my clothes, trying to make it to the bathroom on time - ugh! I used pads one day, lined with soft paper towel (I was in NYC for the day) I still ended up w/ an awful rash & had to use a medicated ointment to heal it. Any suggestions?

Thanks!

Have you looked at the items offered in the ICN Shop? Here is a link:

i was going to recommend the seventh generation ones! i really like them. i use the overnight thin ones for my period and the pantyliners for days when i'm just feeling like i need a little extra "absorbment" down there :) the pantyliners are about a quarter inch think so they might be just right your bad days....which i hope you don't have any more of!!!

Another option might be "glad rags" - organic cotton cloth pads that can be washed.
Google them to find a vendor...

Tho I don't believe I have a true allergy to such things, when my Vulvodynia and Vulvar Vestibulitis are flaring bad I cannot tolerate pads of any kind. The most tolerable I have found are Kotex pads...they seem to have a much more cotton-y feel to them. Have you been examined or talked to your dr about Vulvodynia, Vulvar Vestibulitis, Vaginismus...these conditions are CLASSIC for making pads intolerable!!! There are treatments for these conditions that can help very much...diet, too. Good luck!

There are a growing number of women using cloth menstrual pads...I wonder if you washed them in scent-free detergent and rinsed well if you would react to them? If you can't wait to mail-order them, I know I've seen them at Whole Foods Market or Wild Oats stores. You could even get the nice thick cloth baby diapers and cut them up and layer them.
(I will admit I've thought about doing this! I'm dribbly, too, and have felt irritation from one type of pad. I was told this was unlikely, but also know that it's well-documented that some babies react horribly to a certain brand of diaper!)

I switched to cloth menstrual pads for my period when my IC got really bad and I could not tolerate any type of disposable pad. They were much more gentle and I did not have a problem with them. I think they'd work for your situation, too.
