:help: I do not understand what is going on! I was turned away from my second pain clinic! They say they can't help me. This is the pain clinic that Jess went to. I am in the process of contacting her but, in the meantime I wanted to find out if any of you could know why this is happening?? I have been on pain meds since last fall. And, had to increase it this past few months because of increased pain and tolerance. My uro. is uncomfortable prescribing the pain meds continuously. That is why the pain clinic was the next option. Why after reviewing my charts do they turn me away. I just broke down in the Uro. office when my (very supportive) nurse told me about this turn down. They don't understand it either. I thought Pain Clinic's help people who are in chronic pain??? I am starting to get angry. Please help Dana

I wish I could help you....makes no sense to me. My family doc prescribes my pain meds.

I am so sorry this happened. Jess has been sick and I don't know if she will respond to your email. You could ask Brat if she can contact Jess for you.

I think you deserve to be told the reason why you were not accepted. It could be that they have a full patient load --- if that's the case, that's different than other reasons might be.

I hope you find some relief soon.

Warm healing thoughts,
Donna

Donna,
I had an appt. set up with them already! May 17. Then, they contacted my uro and told him they could not help me. Dana

In the meantime, try to get someone to presecribe you some valium or klonopin. It will immediately stop any spasms and take the edge off. It works better for me than pain meds. Good Luck.

I tried Valium but, it was only 2 mg. It did nothing for the pain. How many milligrams are you taking? Dana

2 mg. of valium won't help. I use 1 mg. of klonopinn during the day if my pain level gets over my tolerable limit. I take another 1 klonopin with my nightime cocktail of 25mg. elavil, 50mg atarax, 1 melatonin.

If you have valium on hand, probably 5 mg. is close to the 1 mg. of klonopin. Of course, I am no doctor. I really think klonopin is best, I've used it for years.

Let me know how it works for you. It shouldn't scare any doctors off. Your GP could prescribe it over the phone.

If you can't find anyone to help you, call a hospice near you and ask for a referral to a dr who will treat your pain......that's what I will do if anything were to happen to my uro. It sounds like a drastic step to take but it's actually a short cut because these dr have so much knowledge regarding pain........

hope that helped some:pray:

You deserve to know why you were turned away. Please ask your doctor if they gave a reason. If not, call the clinic, and ask for it in writing.

the last i heard from Jess she was still in alot of pain and sick and sleeping alot.
Brat her aunt passed away so i don't know how long she will be gone either.
I do wish i could help you more.

The pain clinic may have truned you down because maybe they didn't like your inc. just a thought.

i'm not sure but i would ask my doctor for the reason.

sending you hugs and prayers

Hi Dana, have you ever read your medical records? The reason I'm asking is maybe their is something in your records that would make the DR. think that you were just drug seeking. I'm only saying this because you said that you did not even get the chance to see this DR. before he called your regular DR. and told him that he could not help you.
Personlly I have found several mistakes in my medical records, the biggest one being that "both of my parents died at the age of 55 from high blood pressure" trust me it's not true. That was about 8yrs ago and sadly my Dad did just recently die "Dec 2,2003", but not from high blood pressure he had Interstitial Pulmonary Fibrosis.
Anyway, you have the right too know why he said that he could not help you, and you MOSTcertainly have the right to pain relief. I hope that you find someone too help you real soon.

Hugs,
Susie

I don't know why they would think that. I haven't been to any other Dr's. Or any other Pharmacies. I don't ask for an increase in my meds. They know I don't like taking pain meds. I hate the side effects. But, I would have an even worse quality of life if I didn't take them for the pain. I have the diagnoses of IC, and, my pain has steadily increased since my Hydro. last fall. I DO know that I had some tearing when I had the procedure done. And, that leads me to believe that might be "why" I have not gotten better. My mom seems to think it may be the distance? Maybe they don't want to treat someone who has to travel that far? I will know more on Monday when I speak to my nurse.

Dana... it absolutely stinks what you're going through. I'm taking a course this term (college) on medical and social work documentation and confidentiality. Just wanted to assure you that you have the legal right not only to view your records, but you can have information changed if you feel they have documented something incorrectly. Hopefully it's not something to that extreme, but answers would be nice I'm sure!

Good luck and try to enjoy your Easter!

I will definately ask to see my records. But, I still don't think that is the issue. My Uro. and my nurse KNOW that I am in pain. I have been very open with them about everything. I talk to the nurse every week. I couldn't even tolerate the DMSO treatments. Way to much pain during and after. I also have Fibro., (since I was 22) and recently was dx'd with low thyroid. Maybe it is because of all my illness's? I don't know.......I am really sick of being in pain and sick of being tired!! :(
