Hi everyone. I had a cystoscopy & hydro today and it was my first one. I was booked in as an outpatient but they only used a bit of local anesthetic and he really struggled to get the camera in initially which hurt. Im now bleeding when i go to the toilet and its really quite painful, does this sound normal??
Im scared he's done extra damage initially..
If anybody has had a similar experience id be really grateful to hear them

Thank you in advance

How much blood? I think some blood might be normal (if I remember what I read correctly.) I had one done yesterday and I had a pinkish tint on the toilet paper for awhile.

Hi there, only local anestesia? You must have been scared!

Most problably your doctor stretched a little your urethra, and that really burns!

Pain is normal, a little blood too.. Also don't worry if you get some White specimen in the urine, normal too.

In a couple of days you should improve quickly and in about 10 you can expect to be at the normal level (maybe better!).. The timing varies a lot though..

Let us know how everything goes :)

Thankyou for the replies it makes me feel a lot better that its quite normal :)
The doctor couldn't find anything wrong with my bladder so he thinks we are back to square one and thinks it might be endometriosis. Im still not sure tho as all my symptoms seem to fit IC....
Time for more tests :bonk:
Thank you again

I had a lap and a hypo. I want you all to look at the video of my bladder. My bladder is almost completely red except for some spots. Let me see if I can attach the video.
The bad thing is the video gets more red as the time goes on. Is this considered mild or moderate. Please help because I can scared.

Han,

It's so great that you don't have IC! Congratulations! :)

I hope that you find your answer soon and that is something you can easily solve or manage. Keep us posted.

Good luck :)

Hi
I had a hydrodistension and cystoscopy recently. Because my bladder was so inflamed, when they enlarged it with the hydrodistension it bled alot. I was passing alot of blood in the toilet. The next day I passed about 5 clots, then later that day I experienced more pain and couldn't urinate at all. I was then readmitted to hospital overnight while they flushed out my bladder to break up the clots. So basically, I think a small amount of blood is normal but watch out for what I experienced and get help if it doesn't resolve quickly. I hope all comes right quickly for you.
