Has anyone had a positive/negative experience with Yasmin?
I'm now taking Orthotricyclen to help with my bladder issues,
but I have had some weight gain and am thinking of switching
to Yasmin. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Hello! I've been on Yasmin for a while now, maybe 1.5 years. I switched to that from Normin. Basically, I've found it to be really good for me. I feel that it often helps with me symptoms that would appear up to two weeks before my period. Now, the symptoms don't show until a couple of days before. Usually, I would get strong nausea and splitting migraines. I still have them, but they don't last nearly as long at all. My IC symptoms still flare, but again, no where near as long as they used too. My weight increased, but only very slightly, like 2kg and no more then that.

I hope this has helped you somewhat! :)

good experience for me too... Less pain, less pms and no side effects. I had some spotting all the first month but it cleared up.

I have been on it 3 months and recently... My breasts just exploded LOL ;)

I took it and got a blood clot two months later. Loved it while it lasted, though. :(

I have been on Yasmin since before the IC so I don't know if it affected symptoms of that. I love my Yasmin though. I have really struggled with break through bleeding, cramping, and MAJOR pms all my life. I switched birth controls at 7 times before finding Yasmin. I went on BC when I was 14 because of how bad my period was, which was a difficult decision to make for my very conservative parents.

Anyway, my point is that the Yasmin was perfect for all of my hormone and period issues.

I do have a pretty nasty flare the day before and for two days during my period, but it is something I can deal with.

I started taking Yasmin when I was 16. Switched when I was 21 to lower dose Yaz (big mistake) and got really moody and emotional. Switched back to Yasmin at 22 and have been on it since. Love Yasmin. No weight gain, no bloating, cramps have decreased. LOVE YASMIN!

I've been put on yasmin to combat a hormone imbalance (which has caused my IC) and I've been on it about a week or so and my hair is falling out. I read up online that people who stop taking it find their hair falls out even more so maybe I'm doomed either way. If the effects of Yasmin help get rid of some of my IC symptoms then I dont really mind loosing a lot of hair since my hair is stupidly thick anyway, I dont want to go bald though. My only real concern is that if you have one of the side effects does this mean you're more likely to get others? I dont want a blood clot !!

To approach from the other point of view, I started Yaz (not Yasmin) and that was what kicked off my first flare with pain ever. I could not tell you what about it bothered me particularly, whether it was the hormone ingredient or the diuretic effect it can have. I haven't tried a BCP since but would like to find something that works for me b/c my period is also really unpleasant. The point of me posting this is, we are all different, and what works for some might not work for others, so keep working on it...

I'm in the process of getting diagnosed with IC. Basically, I've had 14 'UTI's' in the past few years which never got cultured and I have frequent burning. I'm waiting to get some cultured to see if I'm getting UTI's or not.

My pain started while on Yasmin. I'd get UTIs on the 21st day of my cycle...usually about 4 a year, so not every month, but definitely on the 21st day of my cycle. Then after about two years, I started to get constant burning with bad flares sometimes on the 21st day.

I decided to go off birth control, hoping this would help. Unfortunately the burning has remained and I get flares or UTIs (not sure which) when I ovulate. But I'm not sure I'd go on BC to help that, as I think it's what caused this in the first place.

Hope that helps somehow!

yasmin put me in a horrible flare and when I switched to a different pill I felt much better. Something in it really bothered my bladder.
