View Full Version : Not sure if it's really IC.

I know there are about a million posts with this title but I have to make another one.

The more and more I read this forum, I have doubts that I really have IC. For example, I rarely have bladder/pelvic pain and that seems to be the huge problem for most of you. Like unbearable pain.

I've also been trying the IC diet since early spring of 2007 but it really doesn't seem to make a difference. Sometimes I can drink soda without flaring up. Other times I flare up out of the blue while completely following the diet.

I figured it might be a case of overactive bladder but the 3 overactive bladder meds that I tried only made matters worse (retention, etc.) So I'm just confused.

I had a cysto/hydro done today. I didn't get the chance to fully discuss the results with my doctor yet (I was knocked out) but my Dad says that she saw some areas that were a bit inflamed. Could this just be the beginning of hell for me?

You should know soon if it is IC from the test your Doctor has done. Since you have been reading all the posts on here you must know that many people have mild IC and others have it so bad it changes their lives forever. If you do have IC it does not absolutely mean you will go down hill and suffer greatly. Please keep us posted. People on here are very supportive. I don't know how I would have gotten through all I have without their help. I am doing very well now after more then two years. I happen to be one that Elmiron has worked on. Thinking only positive thoughts for you. Hug, Ziggy

When reading these forums, it's important to remember that for every individual posting here that they are in pain, there are thousands out there who have IC but are no longer posting because they feel good and don't need the support of the boards.

I have had diagnosed IC for 34 years now and most of the time I do well and live a normal life. I do have to watch my diet and I do have flares, but by and large I do okay.

Hopefully you'll know more when biopsy results are in.

Donna

Yeah, i need to keep in mind that a lot of people with mild symptoms might not post here (often).

just a little inflammation is good news.. If it's not IC you can treat it with antibiotics or whatever the doctor suggest.
If it is IC, don't be scared! It would be very mild and only very rarely IC has been prgressive.

This means that (talking very generally because I can't predict anything) the chances are that it stays at this level until you find a proper treatment that improves your situation.

Keep us posted
