View Full Version : Hagen Dasz-5 ingredients only
Sorry, not sure about my spelling on the name, but they have a new ice cream line out that has only 5 ingredients! I tried the "Brown sugar" one & it was delicious! And it didn't flare my very sensitive bladder:)
They also have a vanilla flavor & a ginger flavor I'm going to try next.
I got it at Safeway in the regular ice cream freezer, but saw it advertised in Redbook, so it's probably available in lots of places. Cheers!
(I get very happy to find an ice cream I can eat that's not vanilla.)

I tried the brown sugar and also the ginger. Bladder-wise, I did fine with both. (I think they bypass the bladder and head straight for the hips.) They were so good I took them to my boyfriend's house so they would not be here to tempt me.

I havent seen the 5 ingredient line. However I did pick me up some Fleur De Sel flavor and love it. Nothing in it bothers me..other than the fat content which I refuse to look at! Fortunately its incredibly rich so a couple of spoonfuls satisfies my craving.

Oh I agree! Its so good and it doesnt hurt me! I was so excited. I have only had the vanilla one so far. I didnt know they had brown sugar and ginger ones too, I will look for those thanks. I heard pistachio is ok for us to. When I first found this ice with nearly no ingredients at all..it had been so long since I had ice cream..i at nearly the whole thing at once (one of the small ones lol i didnt eat that much haha)
i would recommend this ice cream to even the most sensitive bladders!! :)

I eat any Hagen D flavors (and other natural ice creams) that don't have fruit, chocolate or coffee without a problem. Pistachio, Dulce de leche, vanilla bean, etc. That brown sugar sounds good--I'm going to look for it.
Fleur de sel ice cream? Is that Hagen D? I have heard of sprinkling Fleur de Sel on vanilla ice cream--and there's a place across the bay in Marin Country that's famous for serving soft-serve vanilla ice cream with salt and...olive oil! I tried it at home and frankly, it's weird. The salt I can see, but oo noo. My mother always wanted salt with ice cream, so she always chased hers with saltines.
Do any of you drink or tolerate buttermilk? The truth is most ice creams are too sweet for my taste buds; I miss tart sorbets! My husband found a recipe for buttermilk ice cream that uses low-fat buttermilk and whole milk and tastes tangy and refreshing. If any of you has an ice cream machine and wants the recipe I can dig it up.

Yes, the Fleur De Sel is by Haagen Dazs..the Reserve line. Its fleur de sel caramels with a chocolate coating (these are very small caramels so I wouldnt think the minor amount of chocolate would be problematic unless one is extremely sensitive) blended in caramel ice cream with swirled caramel and french sea salt. I'm a huge fleur de sel caramel fan so when I saw this I just had to try it. Its extremely rich so one or two bites provides satisfaction..good thing as I'm sure its got a high fat content--havent looked!..:lmao:
The buttermilk ice cream sounds tasty too. I'm not a fan of plain buttermilk however used as an ingredient I find it very appealing.

anyone try the mint one yet?
Yes, and it's very good. My IC didn't mind it either.
