Weight gain with elavil

I am on 50 mg of Elavil for my IC and 50 mg of Vistaril.. Well since being on the elavil I have gained around 25 pounds. I was wondering if I slowly ween myself down to like 25 mgs.. will I lose some of the weight? Gaining all that weight can't be healthy. Any suggestions? Has anyone lowered their dose and lost some of the weight? Thank you.

If you are considering lowering the dosage, please do not do it without your doctor being in the loop. The doctor needs to be the one who is regulating your dosage, not you.
