I have been having recurring infection for around 8 months and now am waiting for a cystogram and probably a cystoscopy. My Gp thinks i have urethal narrowing or a backfill?? has anyone else information on this please.

I'm not sure what he means by "backfill" --- I hope you will be seeing a urologist for help with this.

I have heard of people having a narrow urethra and the urine back flowing into the bladder causing it hard to completely empty. Is this what you mean?

Yes!! basically that is what is apparently happening but it has also caused scarring to the kidney with urine too so must be backing up there. They may have to insert some kind of tube to open up the ureter and so i should be emptying better.

Hopefully will be sorted out soon.

I also had a problem with a constriction in my urethra. I had dilation treatments back in 1975 and for me it worked --- some people need to have the procedure repeated, but I have never had to. I had the treatments in the doctor's office and they were painful, but not unbearable.

Warm healing thoughts,
Donna

If you truly have a constricted urethra, it can help. It isn't done often --- some years ago it was a fairly routine procedure, but isn't any more. When I had mine done, my urethra was so small that my urine stream was not much larger than a pencil lead. For me it really made a difference.
