I havent been here very much lately, so if you guys have seen this already, my apologies. However, I was visiting another health site tonite that I visit frequently, and came upon a rather disturbing post there. I am not very computer literate, and dont know how to cut and paste, so I will just provide the link. It is about how they are getting rid of several narcotic pain meds.

As you can see, this is pretty alarming! Just wondered if anyone else has heard about this yet? I am on Morphine Sulfate as well as the Instant release Morphine, so obviously, I am quite disturbed by this! Have any of you read about this yet? Also have the problems started yet for any of you guys?

From what I heard, they asked for these manufacturers to stop producing these drugs because they weren't at the right dosage. For instance, the 20 mg morphine could have been either lower, or really worse, much more concentrated.
There is approved pain meds which have received FDA approval. These ones are not going to be stopped. You will be able to get your morphine, but probably not from your previous provider, either as brand, or as generic as long as they have the FDA approval.

Hope this will help.

Best,

Myriam

Myriam is correct. Only some brands have been blocked --- because the strength of the medication was not consistent. People taking morphine will be able to take it, and they can be more certain they are getting the correct dosage.Donna

Thanks for your responses! That definately makes me feel alot better! I was VERY concerned when I read that and was also fearful for my IC family here and worried that many others here would be affected and unable to get their meds. So, thank you both very much for the reassuring responses!

Sincerely,
