so they messed up my drink order in the drive through yesterday and my idiot self drank the coke they gave me. It didn't seem like such a bad idea until I woke up with a horrible flare this morning. Atleast this time I know what caused the flare.
Looks like it will be a laptop in the bathroom day, atleast it is a good day to be sick (cold & rainy)

Well I bet next time it will be sent back or tossed out! Sometimes we just have to learn from our mistakes! I hope this flare passes soon..Drink plenty of water and take some prelief or tums, this usually helps me with a food flare..

I have not been able to drink cokes/sodas for gosh...well over 20 years now because it got to the point that they always gave me a UTI!!!
Even after just a few sips I would feel the pressure and burning within a very short period of time. So, I gave them up all those years ago, even though I was a 2 x a day Dr. Pepper girl for many years!
In fact, I don't think I have had a UTI since I stopped drinking them.
Of course, I traded in my Dr. Peppers for more coffee and tea, which I continued to drink until this past summer...when, well...you all know what happened then...
I do hope you get past this flare soon...
Lots of Hugs,
~Beth

So 14 hours later i'm still flaring. I think it might be more than just the coke (which I'm sure didn't help). This is my 3rd really bad flare since having the implant almost 4 weeks ago. My poor husband had to work a double today and poor guy had to come home and take care of the dogs and me. It's already 11 and he still hasn't been able to get to bed. He has to be up at 3 a.m. tomorrow and has to work another double and help a buddy on his race car. Some days I want to kill him....but today I think he might be my angel  Is it bad that some days I feel sorry for him that he married me...I have had ic the whole 8 years we dated before getting married in August and he has been there every step of the way. But when we got engaged I had been in remission for a few years. This year has definetly been the worse my ic has ever been!
Thanks again to everyone on here who always reads and sends their support, it has really helped keep my depression regarding this chronic illness I have to deal with everyday!

Have you tried a 1/2 t. of baking soda in a glass of water? It isn't wise to do this often, but in your case, it may give you some relief.
Another IC patient pointed out to me once that the soda fountain soft drinks have different ingredients than those bottled. I emailed Coca-Cola and they confirmed it!

Just curious why it isn't wise to do the baking soda thing often. I thought that was supposed to help.
