Hi. I've been having IC symptoms for almost 3 months.

The first month was really bad. I had constant bladder pressure/pain. I had to go urinate every 20 minutes. I also had urethra muscle spasms which were very painful.

The second month, the 'flares' got a little better.

This month, the symptoms have died down. I still feel bladder pressure, but only when I drink liquids. And sometimes I still have spasms at night.

My question is, do I need to go to the doctor only when I'm in the middle of a very bad flare?

Now that my symtoms have gotten better, will he still be able to diagnose my problem?

Have you been Diagnosed with IC? If so and you are having problems you could have an infection. It never hurts to go in and get checked.. If you have NOT been diagnosed I think it is time you go see and Uro and find out what is going on.. There are so many treatments available that can help with flares..

You do need to see a doctor.

You do need to make an appointment and see a doctor. You don't have to be in a flare to be diagnosed. Take the time to write out your symptoms while in a flare and while not in a flare so you will be able to explain to the doctor how you feel.

I wondered the same thing before I was diagnosed. My symptoms would fluctuate between feeling great to being in terrible pain, like two weeks on/two weeks off. Of course, when my appointment with the Uro rolled around I was feeling great,...but I went anyway.

Actually, I think it was better that way because I was much more able to relate what was going on. My mind is pretty much worthless when I'm hurting!
