lacey...

If you will go into the Cystoscopy & Hydrodistention Board, you can read about Jen's and my experience with this procedure. Might even give you a good laugh. :D

hello, I hope you found out what you need. I had mine done in 2003. If you have it at the hospital they would nock you out for it. They will give you this information about not eating before going to the hospital. You will get there and take off all your clothes and put the grown and the hat and the lil socky thing. Then they will give you an shot and then put the IV in you. They give you a shot in the IV, and you fall asleep and when you wake up your down. they will make you pee when you get up and drink water. Then they let you go home..well this is how it was for me. if you have anymore question...feel free to ask here.

Hey there... to find the "Cystoscopy and Hydrodistention" message board, just go to the main page for these boards. Scroll down until you find that section. Actually, it's in the same section as this board ... "Diagnostic Procedures."

Sharon is right... you will probably get a good laugh from our experiences with this procedure :)

Actually some people have a lot of relief from the hydrodistention procedure. I know I do.

The others are right about what actually happens. I'm sure the pre-op instructions will tell you not to eat or drink before the procedure. When you arrive at the hospital, you will be asked to remove everything and put on one of those "cute" little gowns that don't really cover much. I always get something to help me relax soon after arrival. I always have spinal anesthesia so I get to watch my bladder lining on a TV screen during the procedure --- it's interesting. My doctor keeps me in the hospital overnight, but most go home as soon as they are awake, alert, and can urinate.

After the procedure, the first few times you urinate are painful --- I always say it curls the hair on the back of my neck --- but that goes away after a day or two.

I hope this helps you --- and that the hydro will help too.

Warm healing thoughts,
Donna
