Hi All -

I am new to this forum, as I just got diagnosed with IC on Friday, March 27th. Since having the cysto & hydrodistention, I am having some "issues".

Prior to having the procedure, when I pee'd, the urine would come out at a quick velocity, and I had no trouble emptying my bladder. Since having the procedure on Friday, my urine now comes out very slowly, and I usually have to lean forward to get empty my bladder all the way. I empty about the first 50 - 75% the normal way, and then lean forward and "push" to get the rest of it out. I was very concerned about this, and called my Uro on Sat. He said this is normal to happen after the procedure, and that it should get better very soon.

I am concerned though because it has been 4 days, and I am still having this problem. I have no idea what would cause this, but I am scared to death that it's not going to go away! I shouldn't have to lean forward to empty my bladder! Has anyone else experienced this? Please help~!! I am really hoping you will tell me that this will go away over time......

Hello...I am so sorry you are suffering! Yes it can be common like your dr said to have a hard time emptying after the hydro/cysto. It can take a few weeks to months to get back to your "normal". I hope you are feeling better soon! Hang in there:)

Mine felt like that the first time I had it done...it wore off about three weeks later, maybe yours will sooner, I just had another hydro done today, I asked them about it because I felt like I always have to go...kind of similar symptoms to when I get a kidney infection...and i felt like I had to push to get anything out. My doctor said it was normal because it will make you feel like you have to go really often and you may not have to and you will still feel like you have more that you need to push out...it's quite annoying isn't it. :bonk:
Hope your issue gets better soon! :grouphug:

Yes it is! Thanks for sharing this! I don't feel so alone now... LOL~!! It's just scary because I never felt like this before the procedure, and here it is 5 days later, and I'm still having trouble peeing! The bladder pain is gone now, finally! I am also peeing less often now. I only peed once after bed, and that wasn't until 5 AM. So, I made it a pretty long time before going.

One little tip to help you empty is to urinate, then stand up part way, then sit back down. And be sure you don't strain --- even if you feel like you need to.

Hopefully as you recover this will go away.

Hugs,
Donna

Thanks! That is what I am hoping for. I went to the Uro today, and the nurse said that my bladder "neck" is likely still swollen from the procedure, and that is what is causing me this issue. So, hopefully, in time it will get better.
