Hi. I've noticed that I've been having painful bladder or urethra spasms or muscle contractions at night. They usually start around the evening time.
And they happen more frequently when I'm sleeping too.
Why do I even get them? And what causes them?
And why do they occur more frequently at night?

At night we want to be calm and quiet and sleep --- there isn't anything to distract us from discomfort. Have you talked with your doctor about this?

Yes, please talk to your dr(s) because there is most likely a treatment that could help you...maybe an antispasmodic??? Take a look in the antispasmodic forum and you can read many posts there about the many kinds of antispasmodics out there that help lots of us with our symptoms, including spasms. Also very low dose valium is often used for IC and PFD spasms...I have used it with much success in the past.
Others have specially compounded valium suppositories to insert into vagina at night that many report to find extremely helpful...if you are interested in doing some research on the valium suppositories use the search option up above in the dark blue ribbon towards the right and type in key word valium suppositories and you should find many threads that have posts dealing with that specifically for good reading and info about them.
I can't say why yours occur more at night but definitely my bladder pressure increases or starts up as soon as I lie down to sleep. Cold packs on my lower belly and between legs help me A LOT for that... And most every morning I wake up feeling fine...but as the day at work goes by, the later in the day the more likely I am going to have symptoms start up either because of just bieng exhuasted from work and other times from stress at work.
Hope any of this is of help and you get this very annoying symptom under control soon!! Take care!
