I've been in pain for about 5 months now, confused and scared. After several doctors I finally found one with IC experience. She diagnosed me with OAB and had me try some meds. Today I had a follow up and explained that the meds did nothing and that my symptoms had worsened. I have a CT scan tomorrow to make sure that all is well, then I will be scheduled for a cystoscopy and I'm terrified. She says she will do in in her office as an out patient procedure with some anesthesia. What should I expect to feel after the procedure? I have to travel away from school for the procedure and can't really bear to miss a lot of classes. Will I be well enough to return to school that day or the next?

Good luck with the cysto. You may feel some pain with it but most people do well. Some are able to return right to work or school. Others need some time to recover. A lot depends on your body and all.
You may want to take pyridium to help with burning after but talk with your dr and see what they suggest is best for you with your situation.
Again good luck I hope it all works out well for you!

You might want to schedule your cysto for a Friday (or other day when you will have a day or two free) in case you feel some discomfort afterwards. When I have had cystoscopies, I was able to return to work immediately afterwards --- a little uncomfortable, but not bad.

When I had mine in-office cystos I was able to go back to work right after. Had a little discomfort but all in all it wasn't bad.
Having the one for out-patient surgery, I usually schedule mine on either a Thursday or Friday this way i have the weekend to recover. I usually go back to work on Mondays, usually with no or little pain, but thankfully I can use my heating pad if and when needed.
I am so lucky that I have a boss who is really understanding (it helps that she is sick as well with her own illnesses) and she understands that even if I am here at the office if I don't feel my 100% that I will do what I can as when i feel like my old self I usually give more than the 100%.
good luck.
