I have been doing Elmiron instillations for two months now, and would like to hear from other men who may be doing this as well.
Initially, I did heparin for 3/week, then my doc switched me to
Elmiron, two capsules, every day. I mix the capsules in sterile water and use a thin catheter. I am concerned about the frequency, however. I'm afraid although I'm helping my bladder, I might be traumatizing my urethrea too much. The nurse in his office says that they have patients that do multiple daily instillations, and do all right. But I imagine that they are mostly female. Are there many men out there who do regular Elmiron
instillations? I would appreciate hearing from them. I think I do need a fairly high dose of Elmiron as I like to use the treadmill
alot and If I miss doses it can be really painful in my pelvis.
